"Cold" light

I have a '65 Wildcat and I noticed there is a "cold" light that appears to be geen in the instrument cluster.

Anyone know how it works and why mine may not be working, other than the obvious bulb. Where would the sending unit be?

    Thanks Rick

On mine, that light will only come on occasionally when I first start it up on really cold mornings.
When it does, it goes out rather quickly as the engine warms up.
To check or replace the bulb is pretty simple, just remove the screws securing the face of the pod and pull the whole unit out.
Once it's out, you'll see all the bulbs still sitting in the hole in the housing.
With the pod out you can start it up, turn on the lights, and check to see that they all work.
    Pretty neat, huh?
I believe the sender for it is in the cylinder head on the passenger side but I'd have to check my manual to be sure. :Smarty:

Thanks for the info. Mine has never come on. I've only had the car for about 3mos.

I have had the cluster out. It is pretty cool the way it is "modular".

I love the car. I bought it because my grandfather had one and I still remember him smokin' the tires for me and grandma gettin' pissed.

I tried to post one but apparently the jpeg is too large. It's red; white rag top; red interior, original buick mags w/ red centers custom with long console & tach.

Prior owner redid paint, seat covers, carpet, top, and rechromed bumpers. I have redone the clock, tach is being refaced & upgraded, distributor is being converted to HEI and should be here any day, replaced top pump as it did not work, refurbished several switches, and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned, cleaned the chrome. I will redo the cracked dash board for the old birthday. The door panels also need to be redone. Detent switch is out in the SP400, I just need to time (read motivation) to drop the pan.

I originally wanted to go with a 455 but the 401 runs so well and the car is original so I don't want to change it. I still want the dual quads though.

we had a new 63 impala 2dr ht . it also had a "cold" green light . the light would come on , especially in the winter , when the car was cold . its purpose was to politely inform u to take it easy on the engine until the it warmed up to operating temp & the light went out . in the middle of winter , i remember that the light would stay on for about 2 miles , if drove the car @ 50 mph .
