I've got a complete 8.5" 3.42 open rear. Original 3.42 rear from my six cylinder car. the housing is crusty, but the rear functioned perfectly with no gear noise. complete with newer brakes. I wouldn't hesitate to slap a locker or posi unit and reuse the rest. I can't imagine that 250-6 abused that rear at all. 500 bucks- no shipping. I can get pictures but i promise you it looks like a crusty old rear end!
Not to hijack your thread, but that seems like a really odd rear end gearing for a V-6 was that from the factory?
yes factory gears. I believe i read in my 71 service manual that all the six banger cars had 3.42 gears. the car moved right along. it was only a little slower than my 350-2 car with 2.56s. I have a 17.2@88 timeslip for it somewhere!
