I'm pretty computer illiterate-So i have a question.at the lower left hand bottom of my screen i get error on page only when i go to e-bay or to hotmail.Would this have anything to do with why my computer is acting funny on these sites & what does it mean? Thanks Jeff
Technically, it could be either. did it just start or has it been going on for a long time? It could, indeed, have something to do with why your computer doesnt seem to like these sites. The error means that therei s an error on the page which could cause some of the sites parts to not function properly. First, try updating your computer by using http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com ... If that doesnt help and it just started... give it some time, it might just correct itself. Or, if you are enterprising, you could start using Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org) Eric
Thanks Eric Eric, Actually i've been getting that message for quite sometime now.Wierd things that are happening on my hotmail account are when i try to open or delete a message i have to use refresh-shouldn't be like that i know. Today i tried to list auctions on e-bay & i'm unable to download the e-bay picture host service. It will appear for a milli-second then vanish-really weird. This leaves me unable to attach pics to my auctions. I looked into picture host sites but they seem like to much trouble to me.i prefer to use e-bays even though it cost more for the 2nd pic. Thanks again Jeff
You can go to download.com and download both SpyBot and AdAware - which I would absolutely suggest doing. They are both simple to use and can be life savers. Here is Spybot http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10289035.html?tag=lst-0-1 Here is AdAware http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10319876.html?tag=lst-0-1 I think that the previous poster may be on to something... Also, What operating system are you using? (Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Macintosh 8.5-10/OSX) What browser? (Internet Explorer, Netscape?)
If some images aren't loading, your cache may be full so the computer won't download anymore until it's emptied.
I don't know what browser you are running, but usually the problem is caused by your computer not having the correct program necessary to view the web page. Try updating your version of java www.java.com Windows comes with its own, but you can use the true java client. Shockwave www.shockwave.com or Flash www.macromedia.com. Better yet rightclick on the Errors on this page symbol and get the properties and post them here or PM me and I'll try to help out. Chris
I remember something in MS Internet Explorer where it may warn everytime it finds an error on its page. If I remember correctly, you can turn that off by opening the browser, going to the "Tools" menu. Choose "Internet Options," then "Advanced." Uncheck "Display a notification about every script error." I'm not sure if this is your problem. Also, you could check Internet Explorer's security settings. Maybe they are too high. Here is the Spybot homepage.
