well, George knocked me off in the final today at the strip in las vegas, and did it in fine style!! he ran a string of low 950s on a 950 flat dial in hot weather. I wanted to be the first to publicly congratulate him here on V8 Buick!!
:TU: Even though I am chained to the shop, and don't hardley get to race anymore, it's nice when one of my customers wins. Been a long time coming for George, and couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. JW
Last time I saw that car race some "hot shot" was driving it and I don't think he got to 9.50. Maybe George should race the car more often?
Congratulations, George!!!! :beer Now the real question............were you a big winner at the tables as well???!
I am very happy Gorge went on to take the win!!! He had the long haul award for sure. It was nice meeting you george. A video of round one with me is coming up.
Here's a link to the Vid... it's not the greatest, but it gets the job done. http://streetheatcarclub.com/videos/Rich&George.wmv
Johnno maybe the east coast tracks don't look that good but if you want to run your best times ever you have to go to Cecil! :TU: My son ran his best time this year at Cecil as well as Bruce Hunter, John Stevens and Paul Pirnat to name just a few. Out of the 100 plus Buicks there this weekend I wonder how many more personal bests for the year were there? Congrats to Sweezy and Scott on the victories. Did T/A make any passes?
Final Run Then George dropped the hammer. Look again at the guy with the camera and you can see much of a head start Scott had!!!
I was wondering if anyone has the video where I ran George, or a picture, I "sandbagged", alittle I guess....Why did they run George and myself "heads up"? He had a 9.50 dial to my, ah, um, 10.20. I figured I wouldn't be running again and just had to crack open the "bottle", I figured it would not hook and have to turn off the squeeze, and actually run the 10.20, was I wrong, In a good way, car hooked, 1.40 60 ft. 6.1 in the 1/8 to a best , yet, 9.59@139! There was some other excitment on this pass, my main fuel pumped stopped pumping as I got to the finish line, I heard a "pop", then fire shot out up the windshield, shut everything off, luckly no damage, the spark plugs "straps" may be melted off, I'll check that tomorrow, Fuel pump is getting taken apart to see what happened. Had a great time at the West Coast Nats. I really wanted to run TA Mikes' wagon, it almost happened, he ended up "missing the call" for round 1, and that was it. I got a few more "jets" in my tool box, and one set has TA Mikes "number", I aint afraid of no wagon! Hope all had as much fun as I, can't wait to do it again! Like I said, if anyone has the video, or a picture, post it, or let me know what I need to do to see it. I also sent an EMail to the "Nats" web site for a video of the entire event, just have to see what happens. The Convert. gave ya a good run George!! My 9.59 to your 9.53 Gary Giessen
Thanks To All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a great time and thanks to all of you that made it fun. I was happy to meet some of the people who I only had heard of the names. Scott thanks for all the assistance. I wish I could have attended the celebration event that night, but other priorities exerted their pressure. I do hope that my substitute addressed the thirst needs from the hot day of racing. Again, thanks to all.
Congratulations George..You and that car make 9.50s look easy. Thanks for making the long tow out west. It was great to see that car in person.
