    IMG_8753.JPG Hey guys,

    First time disassembly here.

Is the connecting rod cap a matched set like bearing caps? Also, what kind and size nut is on there?

    Thanks much.

Like all bearing caps be they main, Cam or rod they are mated to where they came from.

You'll need a 12 point socket to remove the rod cap nuts, I can't remember what size they are off hand though, like 7/16" or 1/2" or maybe 5/8", one of these 3 should work.

I don't know why I forgot that size, being the most common bolt size in the engine compartment! Must of been a brain fart.

And if your going to stamp numbers on them, do it while there torqued up on the crank. Otherwise you will bend the rod. If there off already, use an electric engraver, or just make it a habit to use the engraver always.

Thank you. They are still on the crank and torqued. Where's the best place to mark them? I don't want to introduce stress in the wrong place.
