This may sound like a stupid question but does the shifter cable bracket mount on the trans or the drivers side floor board area. I'm replacing my shift cable and the mount for the cable is mounted to the drivers floor board :Do No: . I was told it should mount to the trans. I have a 350 THM with a 455 in a 72 gs.

The bracket mounts to the transmission pan bolts and holds the cable there. You use 2 bolts in the pan that go through the holes in the bracket. If you look at the bracket,it is kinda easy to determine how it goes on. Be aware though, you cant use a TH350 bracket on a TH400 and vice versa.

Trans pan holes do not line up

I attempted to attach the cable bracket to the trans pan but the holes don't line up. The width of the holes is too long, trans pan holes need to be about another 3/8" to 7/6" wider to fit the bracket. I have a feeling I may have a thm 400 bracket. I guess I'll try to find a 350 bracket and hopefully that works. Thanks again.

I have a TH 350 floor shift bracket I just removed from my 70 Skylark car that I put a floor shift in. I pulled the 350 motor and TH 350 out in favor of a 455 and a TH 400. It has been cleaned and painted and the car hasn't been on the road yet.It may need resprayed though(scratched maybe). If interested in a trade, let me know.

Sounds good Pat, however I'm not sure my bracket is for a 400 thm, I'm just guessing it may be since it does not fit the 350.

You might try Mike Garrison as I know he repros alot of these brackets.
