hi, i've been looking for a mini consolette that fits in front of bench seats. they seem impossible to find. i've got a sheet metal guy on staff that can probably build something really close then one would just have to wrap it in thin foam and stratch a color of your choice over it. what i need though is someone to send me some pictures and measurements of an actual one.any help would be apreciated as i really need one. thanks pete

You're talking about the one the shifter goes through. I think it's a manual shift item only. VERY tough to find in good shape. I personally would love to see a reproduction available since I've been looking forever for a decent one.

Eddie, about 25 people would buy it. I've got one in the closet with a tach in it for the pre-70 models which I still may use on one of my cars. I don't want to admit what I paid for it (although it was probably a good deal). You're right, they're not growing on trees. Only thing holding me back is that as 69 WAG asked, to go in front of Bench seats....

I'm told that they weren't offered in bench seat cars. Although they'd fit. So if I put it in my bench 4spd car it's a wrong application. Aargh... Still thinking about it though because it would look perfect in there and where else can you put a tach in a 68... Even someplace hard to see is better than nowhere.

If you are really talking a consolette for a manual shift trans equipped car they only were only offerred for bucket seat cars.

Yes Jim I know. That's what I was saying. I think it's too bad that it wasn't correct for bench seats because without the consolette I haven't figured out where to put a tack into my 68, except to lash it onto the steering column. If you get my point.

Sorry Mike the "you" was 69 Wag. I assumed 69 Wag meant the mini console until this post.

Im like skylarkroost, need a 4 speed consolette and wish someone would reproduce one too.Have bid a couple up on Ebay recently, but they go atleast 450.00 which is beyond my meens, but I suppose a repro would run close to that anyway, they are out there but are not cheap.

I'll come clean. the one i've got which is in good shape with the tack cost $650. it's not for sale. I don't know what advice to give if you're looking, except that it will probably cost an arm and a leg.

Really the only hope is to stumble upon one in a remote junkyard somewhere or an old GS behind someones house in a barn. I'll probably just spend the money when I get to that stage of correctness, which is not far off.

You might find one as I did today. It has a tach and needs paint as the black is faded. The tach needs restoration and the cup has pits. The car was gutted except this console.

I could not find these but it was getting dark but they may be in the car under the window junk and dirt on the floor.. I will be going back to get the floor hump and maybe the pedals and z bar stuff. Its out of a 69 GS400 hardtop.

Jim it is silver in color with faded black in the grain. It needs to be cleaned and painted and only has 2 small pits in the chrome strip down the center. The tach face is the worst.

I have another console top but need the base. I bought one off of ebay and it didnt have the base. :Dou:

hi, i've been away for a while. the picture posted by ed is exactly what i'm looking to try to make. i know it isn't for bench seats but will look better than just the shifter coming through the floor. i,m putting in a tremec this winter. ed can you maybe measure yours up and take a few pictures of it from all angles because i'm sure the sheet metal guy i hired will be able to build one close. only thing is it will have to be wrapped in a thin layer of foam then stretch over with vinyl or leather. if i get one built and it looks ok i'll post pics. i'm not all for originallity but if it looks like somone at the factory forgot to check all applications and it will fit and look good then it's ok with me. imagine if you had a buddy on the assembly line and told him to put one in. would it then be original, hmmm. i just don't want anything to look cheap or that it doesn,t belong. thanks guys
    pete
