    Marco,
I vaguely remember a 70 Silver GS 455 convertible that had the stripes, spoiler etc installed at a dealership and was sold new as a GSX convertible. Some guy called me and said he had the original invoice proving it. I never heard back from him and never saw any proof. Even with proof it would still only be a dealer installed GSX, and not worth any more then a GS 455 conv. It would only be an oddity.

The green car's stripes & rear spoiler were owner added. It is an interesting car, one of 18 '71 GS455 4spd converts. Here are a couple pics before it got rusty.

Mike, I'm lost now. That picture looks as if it is at the GS nats, or even just a car show. If so, how did the owners, who obviously cared enough to show it, let it slip so far as to rust the way it did? I'm wondering what kind of story there is behind that....:Do No:

For whatever reason the owner stored it outside under a tarp for years, undriven. I purchased it to save it. All original # car, but the greenhouse effect under a tarp in Chicago was catistrophic. Skip Y has it now in San Diego, I traded it for somr body work. He plans to restore it when time permits.

By the way, the green car is not an X, nor does anyone claim it is. It clearly has the GS emblems on the fenders and grill. Don't assume something is an X just because of the stripes. I'd bet 5% of restored 70-72 GSs have the stripes and rear spoiler added, with or without any other X trim. Folks just seem to like them.

    gotbuick What, me worry?

Mines not an "X" either, but I really like the stripes!

    Nicholas,

If you are referring to me calling it a GSX in the beginning of this thread, I corrected myself when I really looked at the picture:TU:
