Folks, I recall reading a few years ago on the Buickperformance list that someone had identified that F*rd 96 Mustang convertible top cylinders (p/n F4ZZ-7650600-A) are the same as those for our 68-72 'lark convertibles. Trouble is that this guy was nothing but trouble on that list, so I don't know if the info is accurate. He did mention that the F*rd parts were 1/2 the price of the cylinders listed in Y1 catalog. I had both cylinders fail this weekend and need to do something. HELP! Anyone have any idea or can corroborate this info?o No:
I can't answer about the Ford units, I suppose it's possible? I got mine off these guys on ebay and they are really nice. Price is about the best I've found. Shipping was reasonable too. $80 cheaper than YO. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2478105677&category=42611
Hydro-E-lectric Jim, I checked with Hydro's website and they want $240 + shipping. Karl, did the units you bought appear/function as the originals? (more concerned with function rather than appearance though!) Thanks guys Paul
I need these cylinders also, and the mustang cylinders are cheap on e-bay, when looking at the photo's they look real close. Does anyone know for sure whether or not they will work. If not maybe I'll investigate for all of us, buy them and I'll let everyone know what I find out.
