Hello, I am looking for the upper trim piece that goes on the outside of the windshield for a convertible 68-72 Skylark, Cutlass, Chevelle ect. cars.. buick olds pontiac and chevy.. I need a total of three of them.. Thankyou Randy.
I "think" those are being repro'd. Check with www.opgi.com and www.nationalpartsdepot.com for Chevelle
repo'ed Ok. I will check but I would still like some originals if I can get My hands on them... Thankyou Randy
Can anybody help out? Does anybody know for sure if anybody repos this??? I contacted both places and saw no listing at either place..Thankyou for the suggestions George!!! Randy
Just saw one on a 68 Cutlass Ragtop at the local U-Pull yard if you still need it. Dirt cheap ($5-$10) plus shipping. -- Steve
That would be great steve!!! Can you pull it for me and we will square up after? Thankyou Randy. P.S. I will be leaving this afternoon till Sunday night and I will give you some money for your time and gas!!!... Thanks again!! Randy.
The convertible stainless is a longer piece.....I don't think they are repro'ing this piece yet....it's not an easy piece to find. There are two wide A-Pillar stainless pieces that completely cover the pillar and wrap around into the door/window/weatherstrip channel of the a-pillar. These can be a pain to remove sometimes if the attaching phillips head screws are rusted. Also--be aware that they are also usually "stuck" to the a-pillar metal with massive gobs of grey chaulk on the inside---so be patient when prying this inner portion off as you can distort it pretty easily if you get too aggressive. Wear some thick leather gloves and try a sharp putty knife/scraper type tool to cut through the chaulk(the gloves will keep you from slicing your hand on the edge of the stainless if the tool slips :Brow Patton
Hey Steve, The other trim is not important..So if its a big deal to take it off don't worry about it O.K... Thanks again Randy.
Bad news: the side trim was gone. Good news: made it a cinch to pull off the upper trim. 2 seconds of hard labor. Yard charged me $6.83. Add $1.00 to get in the yard (actually, this afternoon's trip was free since I already paid this morning, but I figured I'd really put the crews to ya for this one.). $0.50 for gas, $0.25 for wear and tear on the car, and $0.42 for my labor (based on what my wife says I'm worth -- see note), brings it to $9.00. Send me $15.00 total and that should cover shipping. Won't ship it for a week or two -- gonna be busy. Plus i've gotta get some sportwagon parts out the door. Note: I got a big bonus check at Christmas. Didn't look at it -- just gave it to the wife. My wife opens the envelope and says "You are so not worth that!". Niiiiiice. -- Steve
Sparkplug -- Got your check or MO or whatever -- can't remember which it was. Bad news: haven't shipped it yet. (you know that by now -- sorry if my mailbox is full -- gotta do something about that.) Good news: found another this morning. Howsa about 2 for the price of one? Will ship them out today. -- Steve
