I've got a 64 Skylark convertible with power drums all around and the single chamber master cylinder. I would like to convert it to split front/rear system. I don't really care about disks, the drums stop the car well enough, but I do want to convert to a split system so I still have half the brakes if one of the 42 year old brake lines fail. I figure all I need to do this is a 2 chamber master cylinder like used on the later disk brake models, and an adjustable portioning valve. Has anyone done something like this, and is there a master cylinder that will bolt up to the stock booster?
64 brakes well im trying to do that very thing /////// heres what i know so far/////any parts place can get the MC for you you ask for one for a 68 skylark It will bolt on to your power boster///////// BUT you may have to cut the rod that is in yoour PB caution i did and cut it to much oops there goes that PB/////ive another ordered(note yours measures 9 in if you buy one for a 68 it will be an 11 in i did that and was able to get it on (it worked great but was tight against the fender well so i removed it and order a 66 PB it should be 9 in and hopfully the 68 cyl will work with it ///will let you know if i find any more problems lol pete
