I recently had a problem with my L30 350-2 .:Dou:

At first I do believe that was a water leaks on passenger side , so I wipe it off and let dry , I searched for where could it came from with a hose but nothing ... so I let it like that until this week when I notice that the leaking start over again , I touched what I thought it was water :stmad: that was very hot on the floor , then I saw some "green" stuff which is for sure Coolant (Prestone)

My question is what schould I pay more attention for ? does it ever happen to one of you ? :Do No:

The hose I suspect is near the trans dip maybe the picture might help .
    Thank you for your time

Does the heater core as to be replace , or it is possible to have it repaired ?

Was it just next (under) to the glove box in the engine bay ? The leaks seams to come from there actually

Excuse the "quality" of my english I may got some word wrong , english is my second language . :Comp:

The heater cores are brass and will typically come apart where the tubes for the heater hoses attach to the core. A lot of times they break from having the heater hoses not so carefully removed. This sort of leak can sometimes be repaired with solder, taking the core out can be a bear. Hope this helps.

You can bypass the heater core in a pinch to get you by. They are a real treat to change. Not exspensive just a tuff job.

Done it !! I bypassed it that might be a "long term" temporary repair but thank you for the help :beer

A 4,00$ and 20 minutes repair that sounds cool to me , I just bought a heater hose connector (5/8 to 3/4) , place a tray under the car and that's it , the motor was cold and about less than half a liter of coolant goes out .

If I can do it , anyone could

I had mine bypassed all last summer. It is a BITCH to change. Mine's a '71 and i'm not sure how different the 68 is, but i'll bet that you still have to pull the inner fender. I wouldn't mess with getting it repaired becuase after a big job like that I like to know that I'm not going to have any problems soon after. I would imagine that Heater cores are a lot like radiators, you get 'em repaired, then after a while they start leaking somewhere else. Believe me, If it's going to leak again, it will do it right after you get everything back together.
