Does anyone know if anyone is in the pre-production process for making the radiator support X-bars? Also, would like to know if there is anyone doing the 1970 oil dipstick that does not require a dipstick tube. I don't want to duplicate anyone's efforts. Thanks for your input.

Seems to me the X-bars are most needed.

George funny you mention the bars. I am in the process of making some. Should have some pictures by Saturday. Not sure of the correct color of paint on them yet.

Are you making a set for yourself or are you going to reproduce them. Let me know. Thanks!

    Let all of us know!!!!!!

I'd be interested in a set of the "X" bars for a 70GS. I think the color is the same as the core support - satin black?????

    Thanks,
    Lon

    George,
Yes, I am in the process of reproducing them. I haven't came up with a final price yet. Maybe I can get some help here on that.

Ok, sounds great, I am willing to pay at least, $1 each!:Brow:

I don't know what a good price is. They are a simple piece and I think your production costs should be very low. I would guess $30-40/set for the straight ones. Curved ones will be a lil more?

Originals on my 70 were black

I thought the 70 A-body 455s had a tube. My original, one owner 70 GS 455 had a tube ( I think. Granted, several engine swaps since then...). Mid year change?
Earlier 430s had no tube. Same?

No, there are two versions. The one w/o tube is prefered since it will clear headers and it is much simpler to make.

Did the X-bars differ from the 68-69 cars to the 70-72 cars?
I would definitely be interested in a set if they are the same.

I was going to post some pictures this evening of the x bars, but will be at the hospital and the airport. Should have some pictures in a couple of days. Thanks for your patience.

68-69 and 70-72 are different. The 68-69 ones bolt to separate brackets that go into the frame and not the bumper brackets like the 70-72.
Also, the 68-69 ones are only used on convertibles. 70-72 GS hardtops used them as well as convertibles.

X-bars also changed again in either 71 or 72, as the A/C dryer moved and the bars gained a curve to go around it.

Thanks guys. Guess it might be tough trying to find a set if they were only used on verts.

Now if someone could send me one, I may be able to have them made also. Let me know.

    Thanks Rick!!!

Got my repop x-braces from Rick the other day and they are beautiful... Thanks for helping us out Rick!!!

    By the way,
I was under this impression too, but looked at my assembly manual the other day and it shows them on all 446 models and 44467.... so, all GS455's plus Skylark Custom convertibles.... I'm sure the masses could verify whether this was actually the case.........

    question on x bars

So I am confused a bit here help me out, did you Rick already make repos of the x bars for the 70-72 skylark, and are they the ones that people are talking of that are curved to go around some part of the A/C unit? Let me know what kind of x bars you have so I can buy a set. Thank you.

    Andrew,
The ones that I have right now are for the 70-72, but they do not have the curve on them for the A/C unit. They will work on the non A/C cars.

I have lined up to make a bunch of the curved ones, but there were only two people that want them.
