    I would like to get the correct concourse 14x6 tires for my 1970 GS 455.

    My question is, do I have to get Firestone Wide Oval's? or could I run any of the 14" tires, essentially run BF Goodrich and pass concourse?

    My car based on the GS Historical Society paper work is
    option F9 = Wide Oval White Billboard Lettered Tires G70-14.
    And V2 = Chrome rims

    From my research the P80 is also incorrect on the order sheet so I can't even match that number to the assembly manual. I can see the P26, P30 cross over, but the P80 goes to Red lines in the manual adding to my confusion.

    The assembly manual shows for 44637 & 67 only
    STD = D = Black
    P26 = E = White walls (nope)
    can't read this PJ and AK designation (it's at home) - So don't think this is mine either
    P30 = H = H78-14 = oversized white walls (nope)

    I don't think there's anything definitive on which brand was used at any particular assembly plant or any way to tell what any particular car came with orig. @Brett Slater has the Firestone which are nice as they're radials but look like the bias ply. I'm going to get the same for mine when the time comes.

    If the paperwork from Wayne states you had 14” chrome rims with G70x14 tires and they were with raised white letters, then your car could have tires from any of the 4 manufacturers stated in the assembly manual. (They are listed on the last table you posted.)

    The “wide oval” tires stated on the Wholesale Car Order Form is simply a descriptive term referring to the wider size of a 70 series tire vs a 78 series tire. It has nothing to do with the Firestone Wide Oval tires.

    So again you could get raised white letter tires from any of the 4 manufacturers and be correct, HOWEVER, they need to have the size of G70-14 cast into the tires and not some type of metric numbering system.

    PS,
    None of the tires discussed above are radials.

    These are the tires I have: https://www.cokertire.com/tires/firestone-wide-oval-rwl-gr70-14.html

    As mentioned above: it's a crapshoot of 4 different manufacturers and no way of really knowing which of the 4 were used unless you have pictures of the car when it was new.

    I don't feel any difference with these (radials) from the new 15" Cooper Cobras I had on the car previously.

    The price, however, has gone up quite a bit from early 2021.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking but you know me, wanting to make sure. I think either way, it's gonna be that $2g hit for 5 tires especially if I find the G70-14 designation on them. I at least goth those 3 rims all cleaned up. Still need to polish them, but was hoping to tape off and paint the black this weekend before polishing them up. Will send a picture when I'm done. Thanks!

    Got 15" Cobras on it right now but yeah definitely the price are thru the roof for a set of 5. The Wide Ovals do look nice though.

    Car is currently in the shop for a new rear gear set, so need to save some more money LOL

    Brett,
    Do your tires have G70-14 or GR70-14 on the sidewall???

    GR70-14.

    This definitely isn't a concours car and I drive it - a lot.

    At first glance and to the untrained eye, they look legit. I wasn't about to sacrifice a good ride for a bias ply ride. Maybe Nick wants to but I'm good with that.

    In retrospect, I wish I'd grabbed a couple spares before prices went through the roof.
