Should the cross member sheen match the frame or the suspension components? Mine should be painted within the next week, so I want to make sure it's right!

    Thanks.

Geeeezzze, Ken! I wish someone would reply, I want to know to!
Probably best to give JW a call...
I shot mine with the 75% flat/25%gloss catalyst. My thinking was that the crossmember was probably painted the same way as the suspension components. And the frame was painted (or dipped?) separately....

My frame and suspension parts are painted, just have to do some touch-up, and I can start putting it back together!
And I suppose I should install an Eaton posi unit into the rear BEFORE I install the rear...I keep wondering why someone would order a big-block, 4-speed GS with an OPEN rear???? Guess it's up to me to fix that!

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

Semi gloss, same as floor pans.

So that is more gloss than the frame?
Frame is about 30% gloss, suspension and sheetmetal is glossier....maybe 60%?

JW posted the paint mixes previously,....

but didn't mention the crossmember specifically....

Ken. what did you end up going with????
My '66 assembly manual shows Buick spec #301 for the suspension pieces and crossmember...

I think the frame was painted in a different process, and with a different asphault- based 'paint' ..
and the 'bolted-on' components were a slightly-glossier' black..

    Walt-

Based on this thread, I painted it the same level of gloss as the suspension pieces. It looks great! I am concerned that it and the suspension pieces might be a tad too glossy. I say this is as the gloss level is clearly higher than some places on the firewall that are in good shape. Both Korrie and Jim L stated above that the sheet metal and suspension pieces/cross member should match. Of course, I am comparing fresh paint to 34+ year old paint.

    Good luck, Walt.
