Just got my April issue. (thanks Donny) Great 4 page spread on Pure Stock Drags history. Car is mostly a feature on JJ and his Vette, (well deserved I might add.....) but drops a lot of names like that Six Pak Bob guy, Jeff Petterson, Dave Dudek, as well as Terry Pennington. List the fastest cars over the last 10 years. Written by Tom Shaw. Nice to see great coverage of this great event. Peter :TU:
:TU: Jimmy does have some coverage owed to him! :beer I`ll have to grab a copy. Looking back most of the coverage on these races has been great, I just think Tom Shaw just had everybody spoiled. It was nice to see all the cars racing (even the 15/16 second cars) get equal coverage, it`s weird to see coverage on the PSMCDR with only 5/6 cars featured. Everybody feels like they got jibbed, but really magazines don`t normally cover ever car at an event. It`s nice to hear about some positive coverage.
Congrats Jimmy!!!! Nice to see a magazine that isn't afraid to give coverage to a car that can ONLY MUSTER an 11.58 :bglasses:
Glad they finally got there Pete ............ I was going to post them, but I am having problems with my website... so I will post it as soon as I get it fixed...........
Nice Article Nice article about JJ and the L-88. Congrads to Pete for also making it into a magazine. I haven't seen it yet. just heard about it. Anyone with those details on which mag? Jim
Jim While I was at Rob Clary's Supercar Reunion in Sept, Bob McClurg was there shooting for "Drag Racer" magazine. He expressed an interest in Pure Stock cars and shot my car for a feature. Quite a nice magazine actually, and I was surprised he would put something like our cars in it, but it turned out great! It will be interesting to see what kind of reaction the Pure Stock cars get. Maybe Rob can click and paste the picture from Yenko.net or what ever it is that you do to make that happen! o No: Peter
"Rob Clary's Supercar Reunion"...I like the sound of that! We've been getting this mag for a while now...has some good tech articles in it, and Pete's car is like the 3rd car from our event that they've ran (last issue was an original owner ZL1 Camaro that launched hard enough he broke BOTH front heim joints on his ladder bars!), and I know of 1 or 2 more in the pipe, so you can't argue with that. Anyway, on with the pics...
Cool mag Last months issue was kinda neat as well. When they were interviewing Ken Barnhart, he was talking about racing in the 1959 NHRA Nationals in Detroit. He got beat in E/stock by someone called "Ted Harbitt in a 1951 Studebacker called the Chicken Hawk o No: Anyone ever heard of that gentleman?????? ou: Peter
Wonder if that's the same black Studebaker that put me away in Milan in the mid 60's... when i was running my last Flathead Ford????
I used to subscribe to that magazine, but let it drop. Guess it is time to re-up. Oh, by the way, great article!
