I finialy drove my 70 GS with its new 15X8 rallys and new center caps , but i think i like it better with the 15x8 aluminum wheels, the car looks all stock accept for the headers, and SP1 intake, with a open element air cleaner. im thinking that untill the day i go back to the stock exhaust and intake set up, i like the look of the aftermarket wheels, also the car does not sound stock at all due to a bigger cam. what do you think?????

Well Kelly, since you asked, I like your car better with the Rallye's. Now that is partially because I think the 70's look great with Rallye's, and also because I am not a fan of the style of aluminum rims you have in your avatar picture (please don't take it personally). My neighbor has that style on both of his GTO's (polished) and they just don't do it for me.

    Just my $.02

    Kelly,

Where did you get your 15x8 rallyes (Buick Spelling)? I've read nothing but mixed reviews on the Wheel Vintique product.

It's time to replace my rear rubber (actually its been time for many years  . And, I thought I'd upgrade to a wider tire but want to do so the "right" way with an appropriatly sized Buick looking rim.

What size tire are you running on the 15x8 Kelly?

    I love the Buick rallyes

Aftermarket, all I care for are the Torque Thrust D rims- they look really nice on a GS

i got my wheels from speciality wheel. go to specialitywheels.org they had good cores last i checked. they have to have a good core to start with thats what they use for the center then they weld on a new rim, i was told that most of the time wheel vintiqus dosnt have eney cores so they just put you off and tell you they will be making some up next mouth (i spent 6 month waiting for them till i told them to forget it. the guys at speciality even told me that i could mail them cores if they did not have eney. i think they were about $150 more with shipping in all, but they were at my door in about a week after i ordered them and they were a first class product. i think i run a 235 60. i will get back to you on that i no i run the biggest i can on the front with the back to match. you can run a pretty good size tire in the back if you want.

I am with you on the Ralley's, I had the caps, that was cool while I raced the car. But it just was not my car till I put the ralleys back on it, 15x7 rims with 255\70 in the rear and 215\70 up front.

Those torque thrusts are the only nice looking aftermarket wheel ever made in my opinion.

I took all the race stuff out of the car even the roll bar. I want to just enjoy driving it. It was my everyday transportation for the first three years I owned. Luckily cars can't talk :Brow: I have had more fun than one person should be allowed in this car. :3gears:

Another thread a while ago I photoshopped (real quick) some paint onto an american racing salt flats wheel, 17". Looks the same as above but thinner spokes. Only reason to go aftermaket is to get the larger wheels and the advatages that go with them, if you plan on 15" then stay with rallies IMHO.

    Dave,

Do you have any shots from the rear with those tires? Also, are you running a different rear spring with them - how's the clearance?

I do not have any rear shots right now I will take some tomarrow. They are new stock springs on all four corners. I have no clearance issues at all. I have run 275 60's in the past and always wore the centers out of them. If you put a the 275 and 255 side by side there is not alot of difference in width but definitly in height. I wanted to fill up the wheel wells a little more with the taller tires.
I have also run 225 70's up front, I always thought they were alittle too big.

I have thought about the Buick wheels on my Skylark, more now that it is white, but I want the eights on the back and they seem pretty hard to get. I really like the Americans so I haven't stressed too much about it.
