I just couldn't go through with it, I can't bring myself to part with my Riv. Some of you may know I was trying to sell it for reason I shan't go into to, but when it came down to it, I can't part with it. I think I made the right choice!
I think you did too. I sold my '66 Riv 22 years ago because I was out of work and needed rent money. I have regretted it ever since! (I should have just hit up my folks for a loan.) I know I would still own it today if I hadn't sold it.
I just got insurance and tags for mine after putting it back together. My wife is already asking when I'm going to sell it. :blast: NEVER! This is a life-long relationship as far as I'm concerned. The way I feel right now, the car is going to be a more dependable friend to me than any person can be (boy that sounded wierd). Let me re-phrase that. The way my interests run, I cherish the idea of having a hobby that is totally different than the rest of my life. I love my family and the job is OK, but working on the car represents the dreams and aspirations of my childhood... and most of these have long since departed. Not that I regret the changes in my life, but I want to hang onto a little part of what used to be me ...and the car helps me do that.
I agree... I've had many cars I've had to let go, and I regret *most* of them. However, I plan on keeping my 'lark for a looong time.. too nice to part with. :TU:
One thing about it, when you got a riv, everybody and his dog aint got one. When I show mine, it attracts more attention than most of the other cars out there and I have done very little to it. You made the right choice.
You will be glad you kept it in the long run. By the way, you might want to delete the "car for sale" threads so people will not keep thinking it is for sale. Enjoy your Riv! Randy
Well put:beers2: this makes me wanna hurry up and finish my 67 Riv. Cant wait. and im glad i found this board to help me out, down here in New Zealand!
Lemme guess. "Honey, you know if we're going to get married / have a kid / stay together / impress Diddy we're really going to need something more.... p r a c t i c a l .... don't you think we should think about getting a mini van / 3-series / Prius / fill-in-the-blank schmuck ladder-climber's car..." Um, hunny, I've been thinking.... maybe we really shouldn't rush anything... My friend, you have finally achieved Zen. This is your moment. This is your destiny. Congratulations, for you have arrived and reached the summit of wisdom to which the Dalai Lama himself can only aspire in his deepest inner circle of meditation. For you have finally arrived at: R I V I E R A D O M.... Keep Her Holy. For she is the Grail, the Center of Being. Harley Earl Himself smiles upon you. And always remember: 430's Rule. :3gears:
You can always sell spare parts instead. Plasma, kidneys, do you really need your entire liver? A vintage Riv contains part of your soul, man. You need that more than those other superfluous organs...:Smarty:
Never get rid of a car because some one else thinks you should..... Erik, pard, nailheads rule......... he he.....
Dumb question... is there a spring in the lower radiator hose? If not it will collapse, cutting off coolant flow.
