My good friend Greg Elliott sent me these pictures in the mid-eighties. He was robbing parts from this wrecked GS455. You can see the buckets seats too! I will attach a second picture in a reply.
Brian, please limit the upsetting pictures to one every 3-4 weeks! Two sets in one night! :ball: :ball: That was a hard hit that car took.:eek2:
Breakdown! Adam, They are from my personal archives. I have one that is so bad you won't believe it! Looks like I will have to post something to prevent Chris from breaking down.
Do you remember the photo in Hot Rod a few years back of the 71 or 2 Sportwagon with the rear end in flames. They had said it was the gas tank that fell out but the owner wrote in to clarify this was not the case. Is the owner on here? What was the real reason? Todd
Parts of that sportwagon ended up on Kurt Peterson's (I believe that is his last name) Sportwagon. He goes by SportWagonGS here on the board. So in theory, that wagon lives on.:TU:
the car belonged to Race when the fire took place. Kurt bought the remains and used them to build his Sportwagon.
One of the BPG "buildsheets" has that car on the cover in color, and a small writeup inside..... Sad pictures. later Tim
Correct, Race Lutz owned the car when the accident happened, it broke an axle, ruptured the gas tank and kicked the rear of the car in the air, when it landed it broke the other axle and the rear sway bar dragging on the pavement started the fire, I have that bar with the flat spot on it in my car, I used alot of that car building my SportWagon GS, it was really strange some of the parts that survived the fire! I drive the car all the time, when I'm not riding one of my motorcycles it's my driver, I was driving it today as a matter of fact and will be again tomorrow! Sad story but with kind of a happy ending...I've put 60,000 miles on it since I built it in the spring of 2000
