Does anyone have a lead on blanks for the 215/300/340? I've called Isky, web, delta, Schneider, and no one seems to have anything. I believe CMC has stock but they don't sell retail.

I'm doing that tomorrow along with Howards, both were closed by the time I got around to calling them on friday.

Delta will regrind your stock cam. Camcraft also can do custom grinds.

I called delta and unfortunately they don't have blanks, and my stock cam is too different from the grind I've been recommended (112 current LSA vs 107 goal). I'm hoping howards will have something, since I saw they used to carry cams with 108 LSA, which could definitely be taken down to 107. I called camcraft but they were closed already, so if howards and crower don't work out I'll try them again tomorrow.

I thought they only have roller cams for the 215/300/340. I'll ask for a flat tappet since I'm ordering from them today anyway

Crower got me. Full custom specs is a ten day turnaround and i paid $264.85 all in.

Update on the custom cam from crower. I received the cam about 20 days after ordering, and ran into an issue with fitment. The fifth journal seemed to be too big, as when I put the cam in, it would stop right before going into the fifth bearing. I tried another crower cam I have, just a different grind, and it went in no issue. I measured the fifth journal diameters of the two cams and got 1.665 and 1.668 for the preground and the custom respectively. the bearing specs say 1.665-1.666 so clearly the custom was too big and I sent it back to have them take it down to spec, and now two weeks later I talk to them and they claim that it in fact is 1.665 and there should be no issue with fitment. They also measured the other journals and all should be in spec. They're sending it back to me having done nothing to it so I'm not sure what I'll do with it now. I'll remeasure once I have it and update again, maybe it magically shrunk on the way to them

It MAY be your #5 cam bearing us slightly cock eyed in the bearing bore.
Did you have new cam bearings installed?

All new bearings, but the weirdest part is that I have another crower cam which goes in and spins perfect. I wonder if they did take the bearing down and want to pretend it was the right size? But then again its CMC that does those so it wouldn't be on crower at all. I'll post again once its in hand and I can measure the first and fifth journals again.

Well the number five journal is the first to go into the block. If it passed through all the other bearings and would not seat with the last bearing, then I would suspect the last bearing isn't in straight.

I’m wondering if they put #5 in last from the rear.
IF they did #5 from the back there’s no way to use a centering cone to assure the bearing is installed straight and true.
It doesn’t take a lot of out of whack to have the cam hang up, we’re talking what, thousands of an inch?

but the last (5th) bearing is also the smallest, so it could be the 5th cam journal that is too big for it right? The bearings were all checked for size by the machine shop that put them in for me as well I believe so I don't think they would be a size other than standard, especially since an off the shelf cam works fine.

The cam should be returned any day now since it was sent out two days ago, I'll likely take it to the machine shop to see what they think if I can't install it, and if they can look at the bearings they put in to make sure they're straight.

Update, I called today to ask for a tracking number since it's been nine days since they supposedly shipped out the cam, and it's still sitting in their warehouse

Good news is the rep i talked to said he'll send it today with two days shipping so Friday it should be delivered.

Alright so the cam just came in and I mic'd all the journals, everything is in spec, but it is still tight. The weird part is that as I was turning it back and forth to try to find the exact spot it got tight in, I managed to accidentally put it almost all the way in. Before there were at least 4mm of space left to go when it stopped turning freely, and now you can see the pictures attached of how far it got. It still spins fine here and I think if I kept turning it it would go all the way in no problem, but I'm going to assume that I'd ruin something by doing that. So I'll order a set of telescoping gages and find exactly how much clearance I have.

Sounds like one of your cam bearings is in cock eyed

But the other cam goes in and spins perfectly fine, could it still possibly be skewed?

Good thinking Mark, that's a good possibility.

Put it on a set of V blocks and check it with a dial indicator.
