Neons, Cavaliers etc. Yuck! Oh, didn't mention what our daily drivers are. I'm driving a '92 Park Ave. The wife drives a 2006 Saturn ION Quad coupe. Same with the '91 on up GM full size! I see many advertised with over 200k on them. Close to 30 mpg on the hwy too! If you want an inexpensive car that offers room and that nice boulevard ride you can't go wrong with one of these. My '92 Park Ave had only 32,000 on it when I bought it 2 years ago. Going on 48,000 now. It was truly a little 'ol lady car! Rather have a Riviera, but I couldn't pass on such a clean low mileage Park Ave.
The other modes of transportation in the garage besides the GSX are my black short bed 2004 Silverado, my 2007 Torch Red Mustang GT and my girlfriends silver 2006 Pontiac G6.
No problem!! A 1993 F body LT1/6 speed! They are available for $3500, sometimes less, when properly tuned will sometimes top 30 mpg, but any of them will get high 20's. I know that's highway mileage, but I doubt many of the Hondas actuall get 30 mpg in town, at least not any one that will run with the 5.0 Mustangs. :TU:
My daily driver was my 65 buick till it broke/I broke it. Im fixing it now with a 455 but who knows how much I can afford to drive that when I am in college. Currently my driver is a 93 Olds Ciera V6 with 130k. Gets around town and thats it.
Right now my daily driver is my only car, the '76 century, as of right now though I am still working on getting it running. I wouldn't mind owning an Oldsmobile Aurora or a Buick Reatta. The Aurora has a lot of room and a powerful V6, and the Buick Reatta is small but pretty fast and sporty, and a 2 seater to boot! :TU: A 90's-2000ish monte carlo would make for a nice daily driver too, but I definetly don't have the funds for one of those. ou:
My 80 LeSabre has been my daily driver for over two years now! Before that was a Dodge Dynasty with the Mitsu 3.0. I guess I have no preference to import or domestic since they all have their good and bad points. Bad points of my 80 LeSabre? 10 MPG sucks, and the A/C compressor dying in March didn't help me none. Good points? total investment hasn't exceded $800, Great bracket racer with a good sucess ratio, and there ain't a thing on it I can't fix. :TU: Alas its getting retired sometime in Aug-Sep, and I get my wifes 1988 Oldsmobuick 88. Butt-ugly car since GM designed them inside out. But very efficient roomy car :TU:
my daily driver is a 1984 Dodge D100 1/2 ton pickup 318/727 auto trans. has 146k,only work done:new timing chain/gears,valve seals, conversion to thermoquad 4bbl.decent mileage, still holds 32psi oil press @hot idle
mine does, for milage anyway. I cant find any fbody cars that cheap around here... not with the 350 anyway... then you get into insurance costs, and the fact that there is NO room in the back seat for ANYTHING in those cars... ive never run a 5.slow... just the 4.6.. but i have 4 doors and lots of room in my car.
O.K., you changed the criteria on me, but I've still got you covered. :Brow: I took a quick look and found 4 Grand Prix GTP's for under $4000, all of which will meet both the old and new criteria stock, and with a $150 pulley swap, will blow the doors off either of those you mention and will get you 30+mpg on the highway. I've still got see a high 14 sec car that gets 30 mpg in town for $3500, before I believe it. If it was a motorcycle, maybe. BTW, while I was looking, there at least 7 LT1 f-bodies on the internet for under 4 grand, thwey must be worth more in Ohio.
alright, youre still saying hwy mpg... im talking city.. i average 26-28.. last week i hit 30. i dont drive on the hwy at all.. my friend is interested in an fbody, weve been lookin all over, but it needs to be local.. the cheapest decent one we found was a 91 auto v6, for 3100... the gtp's around here for a GOOD condition one are usually around $7k-$8k. i wish i had your luck finding such cheap cars.
i try to split my dd duties between my 72 skylark and my 92 toyota 4x4 ..but i still drive my 72 often in the summer.. i recently picked up an 82 rx7 80k on rotory...havent attempted to get it running but...but its fait will be a 5.0 w/ t5 mwhahaha
my daily driver don't go in schock a euro ( i live in the Netherlands ) ford escort from 91 i've just sold it because i don't need a car anymore for 600 bought it for 500 :TU: tis is how it looks only it's grey Greetings Lennard
I switch between my 72 4door and an 86 F150 Lariat 4x4 least until my 2 door is finished in who knows when.
my daily driver is a 95 gmc van.16 mpg but its paid for and only drive 30 miles a day,so its cheaper to keep her and not make a new car payment.i have a nissan pickup but i like the leg room of the van. scott 1964 wildcat 425 2-4bbls 4-speed :3gears:
Daily drivers!!! Rest my case!! Nothing against foreign cars but as long as I have a choice---it will be these! Pete :TU:
heres my daily driver, its a 97 mustang gt.its slow but gets the job done, gets around 18mpg city and 25 highway.as for good daily drivers that haul ass , 93-97 lt1s are pretty cheap get, good gas mileage and run low 14s.88-92 5.0 lx mustangs are super cheap, get decent gas mileage ,and run mid 14s.if u can afford them a 98-02 ls1 are cheaper as low as 5k now for a z28, run 13s :eek2: get 20 on the city and 30 on the highway.
