I've been wondering that myself. A friend of mine is a restorer, and has a number of the clear NOS GM wheels from the '50s. He showed them to me, and they are yellowed and cracking. He said that the cost of restoration depends on the condition of the wheel. If it is cacked, they will fill and repaint. If it's toast like most 64-66 wheels, he said it can go pretty high, especially if they have to make a mold. I've been wondering if we could put a group together, would they charge less 'cause the mold would be the same for all of them? Dan

Can someone start a poll to see what we have.

Can someone post a poll to see what condition everyone's steering wheel with a 1964-66 GS/Skylark is in. I don't know how to post a poll otherwise I would start it. It would be nice to see how many of us are out there.

Well, here's the good and bad news together

Here's my email and reply from one steering wheel refinisher....They didn't seem to offer a group rate. I'll keep checking around and see what others in Hemmings say. Dan

Pricing for one steering wheel is $599.00 plus $32.50, payment in
advance. Lead-time is 3 to 4 weeks after receipt of payment. Let me
know if you have any further questions.

    Well,
The damaged wheel sold for 513. There are a number of guys out there with bolts rattling around in their heads. I guess 599 for a completely remolded "new " wheel isn't out of line. Dan
