These are loosely based off the stg2 v6 heads. They are a symetricalport lay out.I can't remeber the whole story on the heads but they make big power.NHRA comp eliminator guys run them on small cid big rpm small blocks 700 plus hp out of 310 cid.

It is a 10 degree cylinder head...

has symmetrical ports, fits chevrolet small block, was used in stock car racing, sprint cars and is still used in comp eliminator, its one nasty sbc head. im pretty sure ya have to run either the dart special intake or sheetmetal fab intake.you can get em at stock car swap meets and whatnot because i think the circle track guys arent usin em anymore. there is also a dart pontiac head ( i think 17 degree) for sbc and also the old prostock pontiac bbc( 14 or 18 degree) cylinder head found on alot of pro street cars nowadays with 632 engines. needless to say even though buick used their name on the head, just like pontiac, its still just a chevy part...hope that helps..fish

Those heads were actually designed by the Buick engineers. In the 80's there were no Buick V-8's, so Buick got in on the NASCAR and NHRA motorsports side by designing a head for the "corporate" small block. As someone else said, Pontiac got into the act for awhile to. Pontiac even made a head for the Chevy V-6 during that time (Busch was using V-6's then). It was the age of the "corporate" attitude.

It is a symmetrical design, similar to the small Ford head. Because of that it takes a dedicated camshaft (intake and exhaust are in different order than std sbc), and custom pistons (same reason as cam, and also different valve angle). These are somewhat old technology. You may see some on "low budget" Comp Elim motors (if there is such a thing). The bigger teams moved on to the 18* head, the canted valve head, and the SB2 head.

It is a product of Buick, but it's a "corporate" motor.

    Have fun.
