i have a 1967 riviera, and it seems as if the oil, temp, gas gauges dont work. the only thing that works is the speedo. for example the gas gauge reads full but i checked the gas tank and theres barely any gas in the sucker!! what would be the best way to fix this situation? :af:

Take ground wire off and clean. Make sure you have a good ground.

On the A-body models, should apply to your car, do the following:

Make ground from tank sender is ground to body and in good condition.

Make sure ground strap from firewall to the back of engine head (woven copper strands) is intact and well connected.

Make sure ground from battery to block is good.

Would not hurt to run a separate ground from the neg bat to the fender.

to do these things, would i have to pull off the whole dash? and if so where would i begin to start?

Has nothing to do with the dash. You need to verify grounds.

If you run a ground wire from the bat to the gas tank sender and it works, then you have verified you have a ground problem

George , with all the guages not working I bet its behind the dash . maybe the connector is bad, loose or a ground on the dash broke off . I say check the gas guage and sender but the other guages are still a problem . Some of these cars have a printed circuit board that can go bad . I am not sure since I never took a Riv apart ( yet)
