Dash Pad with no vent opening?

Question for the group: ever seen a dash pad with no vent opening? There is one for sale on eBay (item number 290118371547 ). Appears to be original, although hard to tell without seeing a picture of the backside. The seller also has the instrument panel bezel, which looks like it has the vent opening blocked off by a cover plate. Could this be from some kind of export model or something? Can't imagine any car without at least a fresh-air vent opening in the dash. Anyway, just curious. Thanks, Chuck Avery.

I have only found them in 4 door no option cars!

That would make sense, since 4-doors still had vent windows

I have only seen those dash pads on 2 and 4 door post cars without the a/c option. They are very scarce.

even most non AC cars have the vents in the dash pads. A vent window non optioned car is likely the only application they were used.

That would make sense. I've got a black non-AC pad. It only has the vent near the window.

it looks like my dash pad on a 1966 sky. the vents are in metal next to the windshield.

Hey guys. A little birdie told me there was some discussion here about the dash pad and bezel I have on eBay. I had no idea they held any kind of rarity when I salvaged them from a beater '72 Skylark up the street from me.

I also took the cowl plate in case any of you guys are interested. I've tried to reproduce it as best I can below...

    Feel free to decode!

    Thanks, guys.

I converted my vert from AC to non ac, and went with the non vented dash pad...look is super clean. I love it.

Yep, I sold quite a few of those through the years. Standard dash for a non ac Skylark.

If think 70 non AC skylarks, with wing windows may be the only application since usually 71-72 had a vent in the dash controlled by the vent control in the kick panels 70 only had one control whereas 71 & 72 had two if non AC cars. Anyone know for sure?

They were also found pretty common on non a/c post model cars as well...

Anyone been able to decode the cowl tag info I posted? Seems like that would answer a lot of questions.

Thanks, guys. Keep the info coming.

    Guys,

I took a couple of pics of the car today in case you're interested.

I was also told that the horn button I have listed on eBay could not be from a '72 Skylark. Is the steering wheel odd too?

I also noticed that it's still wearing bias-ply tires. Man, how long has it been since they sold those?

    Enjoy.
