I'm going to look at a 1970 GS Stage 1 and I was wondering if anybody has a picture of the date code on the block that they could share with me. I was told where it is but I'd like a picture to actually see it if that is possible. I was told that the date code should date back three months before the body. If anybody has a picture or different information please share it with me. I'd also like to know what the number and the letter on the date code stands for. I believe the number is the month but I forget what the letter stands for so please help me out. Thanks

Thanks for the info, but I tried that site and I could not find info on the date code.

A picture of the actual stamping would be of little use...my personal experience is they all look different. While they were applied generally in the same locations, they were done by hand and thus appear in as many different ways as you can imagine.

Get the VIN number and have the cars original equipment verified by the appropriate source. The Sloan Museum or Wayne Roberts will have the information. There may be someone in your area that would be willing to help you inspect the car...someone who is familiar with the GS and its numbers.

    Be well informed and thorough.
    Good luck!
