I was over on the Yenko site and a guy by the name of Jim Ferron posted this at the end of a message - "My current project is the 'Russ Dunmire' 68 Hurst Olds drag car. Yep THAT 68 Hurst olds" I was wondering what "THAT" meant. Lon OO====OO
Although I don't know what "that" means, here's it at the Barrett Jackson: http://www.barrettjackson.com/auctionresults/common/cardetail.asp?id=15668 It looks like there were many links with a google search. I thought Russ Dunmire sounded familiar... I grew up hearing their jingle - it's still in my head (and I want it out).
The car was totalled out when the owner decided to take it for just one last ride. I'll see if I can dig out the pics on it. It was a real mess. Someone said it showed up at Hemmings Musclepalooza back in May, but not sure why.
I can't find the link, but it was a great read...some guy bought the car, then the seller wanted to back out of the deal. So the seller agrees to go through with it, but the next time the buyer talked to him, the seller said "I rolled the car"........and he did. :spank:
Steve Hodges was saying that it was out at Musclepalooza in New York and completely redone! I think that the car was rolled like 2 years ago.
Here's the pics from Musclepalooza that someone posted. Don't think it was done yet, but looks a lot better than the pics when it was towed in. Can't see how they can save that body. Maybe with a new top, quarters, floor, and cowl.....
Hey Dave, Kind of hard to tell, but that looks like it might be the '76 H/O prototype. I wish Linda would get out of the way so that I could look at the car!
That makes it all the better to see with although it looks like they're on low beam:Brow: As for the car, I've seen worse repaired. Local Pontiac restorer once did a barrel rolled 442 basically on a dare 'cause everyone had told him it couldn't be done.
