My last day at work is tomorrow 12/12. For those who have called me during the day, the current phone number you have will no longer be valid. Try my e-mail (or PM) instead. Thanks!
Marco, I can wholly sympathize. What lousy timing... new baby and holiday season. Keep positive and enjoy being with your family until something opens up. Yard
Re: marco Hi Jerry - The company was sold (Prudential Property & Casualty) I was downsized/outsourced. No budget for me. Thanks Jeff! All things considered, with a newborn around the holiday season, it really isn't a bad time to be home. Attitude and outlook in life is everything :bglasses:
Marco, consider yourself lucky to get shot right away versus dragging it out with all the uncertainty. Let me know if I can help. You probably don't want to move overseas though.
Hey Marco, Sorry to hear about the loss of your job. As said before, at least they had the balls to tell you that you're gone at a certain date. I've been laid off from the railroad 3 times in the last 4 years. It was always at the last second that I found out for sure, but there were enough signs that I knew it was coming. It was never long though, usually 6-8 weeks. Well if you get sick of getting unemployment checks and in the mood for a change of scenery, I hear that CSXT is hiring in Pittsburgh and New Castle, PA. Also, the railroad I'm working for got a big coal contract for the Homer City Power Plant, and may be hiring in the spring. Good Luck!!
Marco: It is a good time to move to a warmer climate. Almost everytime I experienced sometime like that when I look back now, it was one of the best things that ever happened. Now China Mike is in a warm climate and an exciting location. Plus, you get to drive the only Buick in town-- err maybe the country.
DE is warmer than NJ, right???? If I can get someting in the northern DE area in January, it would be ideal. You're right - this is the time for change. Thanks for the encouraging words everyone :TU:
Re: Re: marco :TU: :TU: :TU: Three thumbs up there buddy...keep the faith something will come your way!
Hey Marco, Just a "butt-in" thought...I think "we" should use the networking ability of the Buick community here. Maybe I missed it, but without giving a full resume why don't you post some skills, experience, etc.? Never know who might come up with some viable leads/contacts. I may even know of one in DE, depending on the nature of your pursuit. You know the old definition: Community: A unified body of individuals. :Brow: (If this idea is not in line with forum policies, please disregard) E-mail me if necessary...
Not that warm. Now China Mike is in a warm climate Last time I chatted with Mike, it was snowing in Beijingo No:
Re: DE is warmer than NJ, right???? Marco: Thinking of warmer on my part implies south of the Mason Dixon line. Perhaps Miami? Certainly a no snow area. When I think of sking, it is on water not snow.
No problem Mickey! Basically, I am a IBM mainframe application programmer with about 10 years experience in various sectors, including finance, insurance, inventory and manufacturing. I've posted before about moving to Delaware HERE. I've had the kind offer from Paul Manual (which I took) who took time out of his schedule one weekend to show my family around the northern part of the state. Paul was also able to provide me with several leads (consulting companies) in the area. Nothing has happened yet. I've had leads out since November, but this business is cyclical. Nothing usually happens in Nov/Dec (vacations/holidays), and budgets for the following year's projects are usually approved in January. Hopefully things pick up in February. If you want, e-mail me (marco@stage1registry.com) and I'll send you my resume if you think you may know someone who can use me. I can give very good references as I have worked for the same management team for the previous seven years. Thanks!
