Nice job on the car so far!! I wish I was on my interior.. Lol. The 68-69 cars just have a style like none of the others. Great work and keep the pics coming!

Yeah i talked him down from 2g to 1200, was happy with that, thought it was a good first project for me. Hoping to work up to a 70 - 72 skylark. My dream car...

Well started taking the front seat apart and to my delight found 11 bucks. Maybe not a lot of money but never thought I'd make any money on this deal.

Got the front seat done, now working on the floor. Very little rust, so just gonna prep that, out some sound deadener down. Carpet should be here this coming week to get everything put back in.

Then take some time off from that to rebuild funds and schedule some paint booth time.

Sound deadener is in, got the carpet last night and put everything back in this morning, now rest for football season, and get it ready for the body shop.

Good work! Nice to see you jump in head first! The car looks great, keep up the hard work. Do not worry about what some people might think, most of us just do what we want to these cars. Life is too short to worry about what others might think. let us know if you need advice with the body work.:TU: Sean

Where did you order the seat covers from and did you install them yourself?

Sorry it took so long to respond, i got them off of Ebay they were for a lined edition gto i believe. I did install them myself. It was a lot easier than i expected it to be. I can look up exactly what the covers are if you're interested.

Lucky you I found .52 cents when I parted my '67 out, along with a mood ring and pristine vintage gum wrapper.....

They look good. Did you replace the foams as well? and, if you have the Ebay info handy, that would be great. I'm not a purist, and I have found that some of the other GM makes upholstery sets are MUCH cheaper.

I didn't replace the foam, it was actually in pretty good shape because there were saddle blanket seat covers on them, so it didn't tear up the foam that bad. Below is the link to what I found on ebay for the covers. I'm not a purist either that's why I went with what I thought was a good deal on these covers. Let me know if the link doesn't work.

Well, worked out a deal to get all the body work done. Hopefully if I get everything pulled off this week, she will go under the knife starting this weekend. Depending in his schedule really hoping to have it all done by the end of the year. I'm very nervous, this is the first time I've had this much work done on a car. Gonna go with the white, and black textured top.

On another note I have a 69 and the hood that I posted is for a 68, bad idea? Leave it stock rather than put a 68 GS hood on it?

I'll keep everyone updated on the progress.

If both hoods are in decent shape, have them both painted to match your car. That way, you can try out both looks. Maybe a 69 GS hood will pop up one day. If there was a way to get that hood easily, I would be all over it.

Hey, Its your car ! build it so YOU like it and want to keep it. If you doing it to flip it later on, then stay stock.

... you could always paint the orig. hood and have both and then the paint will match.

Oh - expect the body/paint shop to take at least twice, prolly 3x longer than they tell you

Thanks for the help guys, think I'm gonna pick it up and have both done as mentioned. Shouldn't be much extra to do that.

Well, everything got sent off to the body shop. He's hoping to have it back to me in a month. Would be an amazing Christmas present. But not holding my breath. Then hopefully get new weatherstripping on.

Well, I picked up some 14" rims for the lark. They need some cleaning, especially on the inside of them. the chrome looks pretty good, need to get some tires put on them, but that'll probably happen when I get her back from the body shop.

From talking to the guy I'm hoping to get it back by the end of the year. He got all the metal work done, primed and the jambs painted.

Picked up weatherstripping and window felt as well, not sure I'm excited to install all of that though.

Trying to pick up an 8.5 rearend to build up, got a quadrajet and rebuilt that. Picked up an intake manifold thanks to Ponch, and headers thanks to SNKSKNR. Polished up both bumpers, so they are ready to go. I honestly cannot contain my excitement on getting her back.

My biggest concern is the grill. It's pretty busted up, not sure its fixable, but thinking I can get a billet grill to replace it. I attached a picture of what I have for the grill, what do you guys think?
