im not sure what they call it? im still a rookie at launching. how does lineing up at the lights afect 60 foot time? or et. ? i have been just creeping over the lights. my 60 foots have been 1.84 at the best, and reactions .2-.4 , but i run 12.5's.at109mph . i noted that most cars running this fast have 60 fts in the 1.7s. i have 3000 s/p trans and 373s 113acam
Deep staging is when you only have the bottom prestage light lit. (when the top bulb goes out) Supposed to help with reaction times....just makes me red light! I went racing this past weekend and I found a time slip with a 1.837 60 foot and I ran 12.31 @ 108.96 I have a TH350 tranny....Brian Earick convertor--not sure what the stall is--3.90 gears--and a hemi killer cam. Another slip from a different track this past weekend 1.808 60 ' 12.133 @ 110.854 It's all about traction!
Renee, Did you "FIND" that 11s timeslip, too, or actually run the number? :blast: Sorry, have to stick it to you when the opportunity presents itself. Rock on!
haha Gary...actually I have several of those famed "11 sec" time slips. If you would like....I could email you a picture that way you can have an 11 sec pass too!!!!!!!! ahahahaha:grin:
Kelly, I suggest shallow staging for best times. The clock does not start until the tires leave the beam, it's like getting a rolling start of several inches (unless you pull both front tires). Shallow staging will require leaving earlier for a good (or the same) reaction time. When I stage I stop rolling forward the instant the second light is turned on, this gives me a consistant/repeatable (shallow) starting point each time I race. Try for a reaction time of .030 to .060 second, time slips will usually say .530 and .560 respectively (Sportsman tree). When I try for a .520 or quicker light I tend to redlight much more often
You didn't say when you were leaving, but it kinda sounds like you are waiting for the green. Or at least anticipating anyways. I agree with Craig, SHALLOW stage, very easy to repeat. Just bearly creep forward until second stage light STAYS ON. Right when you see the FIRST GLOW of the last yellow light, GO! Then tell us what your reaction times are.. HTH
