If you have not seen the real deal Challenger concept car you should. I can already see it with a billboard stripe.

I think Chrysler will have a BIG winner if it can make production intact.

    The new Camaro........well...

I think they need to use one of their discarded designs.

BUILD IT!!!!! and they WILL come!!!!!!

    Freakin' Awesome :3gears:
The one I've ordered in my head is Top Banana with some custom made
black R/T stripes down the side like the 70 stripe, blacked out aftermarket
hood with the 340 6pk T/A style scoop, and a black tail spoiler :3gears:

Chrysler need's to build this EXACTLY like the prototype, not something that
    is close, EXACTLY :Smarty:
Chrysler, please don't tease us with this, and then a year from now try to
cram some turd down our throat's that has a big ugly gaudy Dodge Ram
oversize chrome grill on the front

THIS IS WHAT AMERICA WANT'S!!! and we want it NOW!!!!

    I'm in LOVE

Ford did a good job with the Mustang :TU:

But if Dodge build's this, it will be the greatest looking car thats rolled out of
    Detroit in 36 years :eek2:

Doesn't matter which angle you look at it, you can tell exactly what model
it is, and what manufacturer it came out of :Smarty:

    This thing is mean looking

    SmallHurst The Polyglas Pimp!

I want it. You think I might get booed off the Ford parking lot, or would they say "Cool Car!" And an SRT-8 version! :TU: I would have to go with a Plum Crazy car (graduated from Kansas State), but like what Tom stated, black out hood treatment, R/T stripe and rear spoiler. If they had ralley wheels and a Tuff steering wheel, they would have the ultimate throw back machine. Picture 18" tires with raised white letters! :bglasses: Edit: Forgot to have the pistol grip Hurst shifter for the six speed! :Brow:

That Challenger looks great. Maybe some day I actually will buy a Mopar -- and now there's one I can afford!

Has anyone seen any specs posted for the Challenger? They keep refering to a "shortened LX platform," but how short is the wheelbase? It looks a little smaller than I'd like, kinda Mustang-like. They must want to make sure they don't compete with their Charger.

Here's hoping they don't screw it up in the transformation from Concept to Production. I think the all-time record screw-up for this transformation belongs to Oldsmobile. Anyone ever see the Olds Alero Alpha concept car? One of the sexiest cars I've ever seen. It would've been fairly high-performance, too. A couple years later they transformed it into the ugly econo-box Alero we see on the streets today.

Here's a link for the Alero Alpha concept car. Make sure you scroll down and check out the other photos, especially the one of the tail end. Drool.

An original Challenger had a 110" wheelbase, I read the specs somewhere last week, I think they said it would have a 114" wheelbase. I remember thinking, that it did not look 4" longer than the ones in my garage.

    Challenger

    Damn!

First the 300 almost tempted me over.

If they build this thing I will be hauled over to the Dark Side! Resistance is futile!

    What an absolutely stunning car!

Why can't GM build a retro '69 styled Camaro???

I'll tell ya why.... because they don't WANT to sell cars anymore.

    This Dodge does the trick!

This Dodge does the trick ! But...
The Camaro concept car looks like the BATMOBILE ! What a waste!
Doesn't do anything to make me think of the 60's or 70's like the
Challenger does. I am a GM guy but I would buy that
Challenger anyday over Bruce Waynes (BATMAN) car.
The Camaro is just another tapered turd again with edges
    on it.
Look at Chevrolet's website and all the hipe they go through
to present that thing. I guess they don't want the Baby Boomers
    money like Dodge does!

Maybe the car itself is shorter... we can't have a large trunk or engine compartment in a modern car, that would be too useful.

If that Challenger makes production I know of a 70 Chevelle SS and a few 72 Buick GS's that will be down the road to make room for one. :bglasses:

    How about Panther Pink?

From what I have heard from inside of Chrysler they are going to build it. The Challenger will be built off of the LY platform (next generation replacement for the LX). Right now they are trying to get a 109" WB approved, the struggle is between styling/handling vs. rear seat leg room.

On another note expect a new GTO in 2008 and the Camaro to follow in 2009 Model Year.....

How many years did it take Ford to recognize the public would never accept the styling of the Edsel? Less than one. The car was cancelled almost as soon as it was introduced.

How many years will it take GM to recognize the public will never accept the current "angular" styling? To quote a '70s lollipop commercial, "The world may never know." It all started with the Aztek in 2000, right? And it shows no signs of stopping. Oh well, at least they're talking about rear-wheel drive again.

    You know whats funny?

The big buzz is the Challenger.....the Camaro has gotten less than glowing reviews.

Among the car buying public that is.......

Among the Pin heads handing out rewards at the show......the Camaro is number one!

    :Do No:

Reminds me of a couple of old magazine tests / articles. On a camparison of the Vette, at the time, to a turbo import.....the turbo import was rated best even though the Vette did better on the skid pad, zero to sixty and quarter mile......it's styling was dated though.

The other comparison was trucks......the Ford, at that time, was quieter in the cab, quicker 0-60 and quarter mile also listed as the best towing of the three.......the Chev won out......because it didn't have drip rails.

    No kidding.....drip rails

    It's freakin' huge

I actually really liked both the Camaro and the Challenger...Prior to seeing them in person, I thought I liked the Challenger better, but in person it just looked mammoth. The "product specialist" (ie hot model who read the script about the car) said it had a 116" wheel base. I'm leaning towards the Camaro as shown. Let's see what the General does with it. I'm hoping both do well as dad is a GM retiree and I have two brother in law's working for DC.
