Detroit Tru-trac, now for 12 bolts

What is up with this diff? It is cheaper than the clutchers. Anyone have any experience on how well these funny posis work?

I hear they are great. I just bought a complete 12 bolt 33 spline True-trac from Moser, but won't have it in the car until later in the year. One of my techs installed one in his car and loves it.

 

Is the tech laying 2 equal length marks when he gets on it?

Moser claims to build the strongest 12 bolt on the market, and they recommended the Truetrac over the Eaton and other clutch units.

 

Yes, he says it is much better in equal distribution than the last unit he had (Eaton clutch).

If I were to order this for my 69 GS with the Canadian 12 bolt Chevy type rear, what would I ask for so that they would know what I am talking about?

Edit: Is this an entire differential being advertised or is it just for a posi unit?

 

I would measure from the outside of the axle flanges before making the call, but mine was nothing special, just the standard width.

 

i just pu that exact rear in my car about a week ago with a 3:55 gears. It is absolutley indestructable. it responds wonderfully with my 455 that i just got in this winter. I would not use anything else.

 

Good news 67Lark. My brother had some movie cars. They took a new 3.42:1 set and a trutrac to put in a 4.1:1 with a spool. He said I can have the take outs. He also has a brand new one I will e-bay for him. I do not know if the other is a 3 of 4 series, though. Weird thing is I think it had 33 spline axles, so I need to get some 33 spline axles, and I want them to be with c-clips. Where will I get those is the quesiton.
Good nows that it works awesome though.
