Hey all, Those of us in Washington who have seen this car that was owned by Jim Emmi and recently sold to Bruce and Shirl Durband are wondering how it compared to the cars on the "other coast"? I know that several of us think that this car and Jerry's are two of the nicer GS' out here, wondering how it stacks up to the "National competition"??? Any feedback from anyone who saw the car at the BPG? How did it do? Is it really one of the nicest unrestored GS350's out there??? o No: o No:
I'll let Bruce give the details, but it received a gold award in the concourse section. You should have seen the look on Shirl's face when their names were called! She was so surprised and happy, and Bruce was very pleased, too. He had to get the car out of the trailer for the cruise down the track, but you didn't hear him complain. It is an awesome car! ShariB
Guys, Bruce and Shirly Durband's GS won a Gold in the Concours/Restored class. I was one of the 4 judges that looked at it. Later Bruce told me his first phone call was to the gentleman that he bought it from. Duane
Wow Duane, that's awesome! We knew the car was nice, and Jim and I tried to explain it that way over the phone to Bruce when he was buying it, but everyone has a different opinion of "nice". I guess it winning a gold validates that we were right! Jerry, you need to pack up yours for next year's trip!
Re: Re: Did "the nicest GS350 in existence" make the BPG? How did it look? Most of the time, that isn't saying a whole lot. They have some nice cars occasionally, but I don't think they make a habit of it.
Re: Re: Did "the nicest GS350 in existence" make the BPG? How did it look? I think I am the closest one that lives to the Volo Museum here. 5Miles Nate (tlivingd) is probably second. Slawek
Shirl's car is unbelieeeeevable....it deserved to win gold....and more. I was totally shocked at the condition of the paint!!
It IS a beautiful car. It was very close to the cutoff of Gold/Silver, but it just made it. I expect The proud owners will fix a few things, once I mail their judging sheet to them. Then it will be a solid gold car. Duane
It looks like a nice car from the pic! Pictures just don't seem to do the justice, wish I could've seen it in person, looks beautiful!:bglasses: :TU: :TU:
I received a call from an excited Bruce Durband Saturday afternoon telling me that his (my old) '70 GS 350 had won the Gold. I knew that this car would do very well in this type of judging. This proves that the car lived up to its description. Congrats to Shirley and Bruce, and congratulations to all of the winners.
Shirl's GS 350 was like nothing I have ever seen. It was like going back to 1970 and looking at one in a dealership. It deserved the win. I am still amazed that a car with 57K miles and 34 years under it's belt can have original paint in that kind of condition.
