i got a line on a 67 gs 400 convert.not so strange you say???how about it is supposed to be triple red!!! i dont recall seeing a red top on a a body of that era. any one know???
Is it this car? http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52150&highlight=67+gs+conv I'm pretty sure it's a black top car and pretty rusty judging from the pics James sent me. I thought about going over to look at it but don't really need another project. What did you talk him down to? I figured 3K-3.5K would be pretty fair.
not unless it was custom made with a special order top color 67 top colors White - Code 1 Black - Code 2 Blue - Code 4 Ivory - Code 7
that is the car i was refering to. i live about 40 miles away, next time i go to spokane i will take a look if it is still for sale.might be more of a project than i want but....I HAVE THE 400/400 out of my old 67 gs,with less than 10k on both just sitting around!!it would be a sweet car.
Agreed, it's one worth restoring. Cool color combo. It will need both quarters and maybe floors. I have pics if he hasn't sent them to you yet. Let me know, they're too big to post so I'd have to email them.
I heard of a triple Red 66-7 Convertible in California at the BCA Meet in Plano. Could have been a Local Specialty car or ? Think it is interesting to hear of 2 cars like this out on the West coast.
numbers before we put to much stock in the "red" theory, let's have some trim numbers hearsay and the "oh, that's how it came" is how people get burned with incorrect items.
Yes, I don't see an option code for a red convertible top. I think if there were a triple red it would be an aftermarket top. Like I said, I'm pretty certain this was a black top car, but that's still a cool color combo.
I am certainly not able to say if they did or did not make the red top. However, I returned from the Olds Nationals in Mn this morning. Yesterday I saw a 67 Olds 442 triple yellow convertible (yes a yellow top). I noticed part of the dash was yellow too. I thought gosh it just could not be but the guy had factory original color literature with a car just like his. He said there is only one source in the US for yellow tops.
yellow Buick also had YELLOW interior available in 1967. It was a pearlesant yellow and was drop dead gorgeous. The top on the Olds was probably Ivory(code 7). The yellow interior (code 193) was only available in the bucket seat interior ("A" Body only). I always thought a 67 GS 400 or Skylark Convert would be stunning in Ivory paint (code T), yellow Interior and Ivory or White top.
Definitely yellow like the car (Butternut yellow ) and not ivory as I understand it (a shade of white). This was not a subtle yellow car or top. It was a banana yellow color for the and metal and top. It looked great but sounds strange. You just had to see it.
