I just went and renewed my tag yesterday so I could cruise today. It was going great until I was backing out of my brother's driveway and heard..... pop, pop, pop, pop, well, you get the point. Upon further examination, the tires weren't rolling smoothing, but jerking pretty violently. SO, I've got a broken posi or gear or axle. :ball: This will definately hender my plans to put an overdrive in the car. :blast: Broken stuff

Does it just do it when you back up? The rearend fluid may just be broken down and need changed. When's the last time you changed the fluid in the rear axle?
I used to have an '83 Monte Carlo with a posi, it started doing the exact same thing, popping when you'd back up, but would go away when you'd start going forward. You may get off cheap if it's just a simple fluid change. Cross your fingers.

Yes it does. I topped off the fluid in August, I think. I didn't change it, just topped it off. I'll change it before I start buying parts. I hope you're right.

A lack of the GM Posi Additive will caused the posi rear to grab and release. Do you have some to add?

I'm pretty sure there's some in the garage. I'll buy some if not, just to make sure before I spend $400 on a cool posi.
