I was wondering if it was possible to take the digital intrument cluster from a junked vehicle and install it in my 70 skylark. I know that there are aftermarket ones, but the look/price isn't what i'm seeking. The shape of the panel doesn't matter as this will be a fully custom job. I just need something that would function properly.thanks!

I can't answer your question directly, but some digital clusters are like large circuit boards, so you may not be able to simply remove some parts and remount them, as the whole thing may be integrated.

i can use the whole cluster. I was trying to say that it wasn't necessary that it fit into the factory dash panel because the whole dash will be custom.thanks.

Problem is you would need all the electronics (engine management computer?) to run it. Not like you can hook a speedo cable to the back... I'm sure it could be done, but it would really help to be intimitely familiar with the electronics of the donor car.

Well, since you are going with a custom dash, I am intriged.

I had thought about a custom dash at one point, but was annoyed to find that the 'Lark was the only A-body with an "integrated" dash. All the otherones would unbolt to a basic frame, but the 'Lark's dash is mostly welded in place, and I wasn't about to learn welding at the time.
