That is a dashpot - used to cushion the throttle when you let off the gas suddenly, so as to not stall the motor.:Brow:
AH-HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That makes sense now!..... I'll need to get a new one or clean that one up reall good. That lil sucker was stuck and keeping my idle too high. So, I let it all the way out so the idle screw would at leaststart to touch down. Thanks Adam. Nick.
Something new has been found! This threaded port appears to be missing something. The pictures in the manual are unclear but it looks like this port should have a plug. It is whistling and has a strong vaccuum. When I put my thumb over it, it's really suck'n and the idle goes down a bit. Should I plug this port and then readjust mixture? Or is it supposed to go somewhere? Could it be a port for optional A/C or something?
Look what I found on the ledge between the Engine and Trans! I went out to start fashioning a plug and just for the heck of it, I said, lets see if the ol Buick caught the sucker somewhere....and in 5 seconds, I saw it! Someone bent the center a little by pounding it in with too small of a punch, so it prolly wasn't in snug and rattled loose and fell down on the motor. Amazing!!! Picture a little out of focus but, you get the idea!
Nick, I remember a guy at the local parts store had a 63 ( I was probably ten years old, so not sure) four door like yours. If memory serves me right, it had four lug wheels. Does yours? Four lug fifteens would be a weird wheel.
Yes sir, 4 lug 15x6. Got some 205x70's on there, just barely. Had to let some air out to get them on in back. The 15's were a option. They also came with 13's.
