The largest colony of FREAKIN mice I've ever seen!!!!!!:af: Years worth of piss,sh_t,nest , WALNUT SHELLS , The dead, grandma, grandpa. The nest filled 1/2 the lifter valley !!! Fresh rebuilt numbers matching motor. All got to be torn down - Redone

Gentleman and ladies --seal your engines tight for storage!!! These days it's safer to put a raincoat on and play it safe!!:blast: :Do No:

Yep. Always have that problem with field mice during the cold winter days. I had a snow blower and lawn mower ruined. Along with 2 car covers and a large pool cover and my 455 virgin bare block. Had it up right in the corner for about 2 years all greased up. Damn mice made a nest in one of the bores. Pissed all over it. Had to get the block tanked and bored cause the cylinder walls were shot on 2 cylinders.

Thats the only reason I keep a cat in my garage and pole barn, cheap to feed and keep, and they kill anything their size or smaller trying to live in my facilities. I just keep a car cover on the vehicles to protect from the claws.

Sorry to hear that, Tim, but scares me, too. We moved my red W30 car into the back garage for the winter, and almost afraid to look there. It's just a painted shell on a restored chassis at this point, but the fresh 400 E block is sitting in it.

My Wagon is sitting outside under a tarp back there, too, that one has a mint interior, hope it still does.

Did find a big mouse nest inside one of the tanks in the 4 core for the 66. Glad I didn't just put it in and fill it up.

I had them in my wifes Bonniville and she was driving the car every day! Made a nest under the hood and went for a drive every day. Messed up some of the wiring to the tune of $800.

Yes, cats are a well designed killing machine. Use them if you can.

I pulled the seats on my '30 Willys, which has been in various storage buildings over the last 57 years......

Used a shovel to remove the mounds of mouse nests. Started flushing the radiator yesterday to remove what was left of a huge one in the top tank.

I always welcome seeing the neighbor cats in the yard. :TU:

Others to look out for are squirrels and ground squirrels.

My buddies diesel got its under hood insulation torn off and later nests of other debris built under the hood. My Mom's diesel had it's insulation torn and used for a nest as well as the trans harness chewed through.

Still looking for a LH kick panel for my red 68. Mice came down through the cowl vent and chewed through the duct to get around the shutoff door.

Friends in Kentucky had a bunch of old cars at their drive in theater and a couple of them had big black snakes that lived in them. No mice (or copperheads) there. Saw a huge king snake poke his head out of the trunk floor of a 51 Packard one day. Seemed like it took it a half hour to crawl out of there. BIG snake.

I didn't know about any snake thing in Michigan until the Lincolns I brought home.

I had four Garter snakes drop out while I was stripping the car!

I hate those things........I had a big one drop out of a door in a 442 I was looking at in New Hampshire.

Went with Gary Rubrich to tow a 69 Cutlass convt to his place and dropped out mice all over the place when we started out. Dropped the torque convertor off the tranny onto US 23. Heard the trilaer bounce over it then saw it sliding down the center of our lane. Gary started to stop, but I told him, not until that thing stops. Looked like a Canadian curling stone coming at us.

I imagine that's not the only thing that dropped out!!!
I lined up a rebuilt truck motor this morning. The guy needs a cam put in and the motor broke in. I just happen to have a empty engine compartment. Might just save my bacon. I'm Sick of thrashing!!!! For once things were going semi-smooth. AKA on schedule.

    Tim,
Sorry to hear that you disturbed the mouse haven! Not like you wouldn't have tore that motor down before you starting winding to north of 7 grand!:Dou:

Growing up, my brother and I were the rodent control for our little shed where the lawn mower, bicycles and etc. were stored. About every 2 weeks, we would start ripping the stuff out of the shed. We would hear some shuffling and some noise as we continued on. Finally, we would get the shed almost clean when we found the little SOB's....Pack Rats! Randy and I each were nailing those critters with BB guns. It takes a fair amount of BB's to knock down a scared/pissed packrat! Later, in that shed, we would start seeing shed snake skins. We had a black snake take up residence in there and he would shed his skin about 3-4 times a year. Last one I remember pulling out was over 6' long.

Had to laugh about the curling converter! When I visited Pete, we went into the Glencoe Curling Center! I wasn't laughing too hard, I didn't want to get beat about the head and shoulders with the brooms!

Hey I had $1,000 worth of chewed wires in my Expedition this winter from rodents (little bastards), sucked. So I went out and invested in 2 terriers, so far they have caught one mouse. They are too busy being lazy in the house, snuggling up to my wife and mooching treats, another good plan gone bad.

Ugh. I hope never to find one of those varmints nesting in my car! Sorry to hear about this development, Tim. But being a Mopar guy, I have to ask the question:
Is that why they call the smallblock Chevy a Mouse motor??

The irony is funny - BUT CRUEL. I had better check my RAT motor!!!
I'm making sure to document with pictures and diagrams-- SO I can reassemble it on my buddies HEAD!!!:kodak:

As a veteran of the rodent control wars I've pretty much learned two things; 1) As soon as the first frost hits, start looking for them, they're on their way in.
    2) Colonies of mice have a slight learning curve, rotate your trap and kill methods, I'm not sure how, but the survivors begin to shy away from traps or poisons that are used repeatedly. I asked an exterminator friend about this, and he has noticed this too, I'd bet a million dollar govt. grant has confirmed this before. My next poison of choice could be pet food manufactured with chinese wheat???

As previously mentioned, snakes are the best mouse repellent on earth. My younger brother kept a 50 gal. drum with 2-3 live rattle snakes in his room, while he was in high school. My mother said the day the snakes came home, the mice moved out. When the snakes left, the mice returned soon after.

THE ONLY GOOD MOUSE, IS A DEAD MOUSE.

Damnit guys, sorry to hear about all the problems with those little worthless varments. For anyone out theire that is having rat or mice problems, I have the answer for you. It works better than BB guns, cats, Terriers, Rattle Snakes or poision. Its called BENOITMENT!! That's right. Just a small amount rubbed under the hood, dash, seats or trunk area is gauranteed to rid your vehicle of those pesty little critters. Call for your free sample today, 555-777 8888. Hey Benoitman,

Do you sell carbon credits, too? We probably should load up before the racing season.

One of my friends near here had an invasion of snakes one year. A neighbor had just brought in a bunch of horses and all they can figure is the wigglies felt the vibration in the ground and got out of there quick like. Do let's see: original problem is mice, then get snakes to scare off the mice, then get horses to scare off the snakes....this is starting to get expensive.

This almost sounds like a typical government "solution" to a simple problem like cleaning up Lake Michigan in the 60's. Doubt many of you remember that.
