I am on a low budget and was wondering
if a chevy s 10 steering knuckle and a disc swap would work on
my 72 skylark....parts are a lot cheaper at the bone yard.
    I would appreciate some help....Thanks

I haven't gone to see it yet, but the u-pull and pay in West Palm shows that they have a '71 Lemans. If it has a disc brake setup, I'll let you know.

I don't think the S-10 setup is a bolt-in replacement. I know the aftermarket sells spindles for use with the S-10 style metric calipers.

I swapped S-10 spindles onto my wife's 65 El Camino some years ago. I had to use the S-10 upper and lower ball joints and the S-10 outer tie rod ends. The tie rod sleeves are the same threads, so the skylark inner tie rods will work fine. It did lower the car about 2 inches and pulled the wheels in 1.5 inches on either side. Also, the S-10 brake hoses are a little short, so you might want to compare them at the auto parts store, and get some that are a few inches longer. Another issue is that te studs for the S-10 are metric (12X1.25mm I think), so you'll have to buy different lugnuts as well. Just trying to get you as much info as possible to weigh the pros and cons of S-10 spindle swaps. It's probably not much more $$ to get the correct 64-72 disc spindles and keep it OEM.

    Hi guys,
Anybody know the cost to keep it correct OEM? I have manual drum and would like to make this next winters project if its not too costly. Thanks

I sold three sets of disc brakes here last year, complete w/combo valve for $300 and w/o valve for $250.

You can buy all parts new but the set-up is much more expansive....easiest way is to buy the spindles w/backing plates and disc brackets....you can buy new rotors, calipers, hoses, bearings from Autozone.

Post a parts wanted here and see what happens.

Check out Ebay and Summit, you can get a good complete kit for under 500$ nowadays. About the same price as getting spindles off of something from the junkyard and buying the rest of what you need from a parts house.
Some corvette and 69 camaro stuff works too-

Thanks for the info,on the s10 swap,It most likely is worth
it to go as much OE with the swap than the thought,Stress equals money too and what I save on stress will save me in the long run...
Next weekend in Daytona 3 days of swapmeet and car show,I know I can get A great deal there...........Thanks
