Ive about completer my disc brake canversion and manuanl to power brakes, Also a complete front end rebuild. I have several parts cars and see that the proportion valve is different on manual drum to power disc. This really blows because i can see a line fitting size difference at several commections. I know that this needs changed due to the difference in brake opperation. Also the unit is larger. I can do this but is slows things down. Just woundering isf anyone else, knew or has seen or done this ? Your imput please.

Why don't you buy an adjustable proportioning valve ?

I can supply a used valve. You will need to get the prop valve mounting brkt from www.inlinetube.com or mount it directly to your frame rail. I will be at the yards on Sat. Email me direct at GStage1@buickperformance.com no later than 11pm Eastern on Fri.

got the valve , line fittings are different

Guess I left out I have both valves,But several line fittings are different sizes. Went to the parts store today bought some new tubing . I used the old power brake lines to copy the bends and remoued the fittings ,which came out nice after bead blasting. I installed the fittings and had to reflair one end of each line . They look good hope they seal good, they usually do. next ill clean and paint the valve and mounting bracket and install them. Last will be the lines to the wheels, may have to remake them if the fitting sizes are different . Probably for the best , really dont like to use 34 year old tubing.
Just wanted some imput from anybody who has did this conversion.
    Thanks , Please reply.

Re: got the valve , line fittings are different

    I have a quick question.

I will be converting a wildcat to rear discs, and upgrading the front discs with the scarebird kit.

I read that when i put these on, i would need to get a different proportioning valve to have them work well.

I was wondering about how i would do this.

I am confused on the proportioning valves, looking at summit there are single inlet/outlet or duals.

If i got a single adjustable, would i just put it on the rear brake line to restrict the back and push more fluid into the front?

Or would i need to get a dual one, and then are the inlets for front/back, or two back?

    thanks

You should have one line from the frt reservoir to the combo valve. Then from there should be two lines to the front discs. The line from the rear reservoir goes to the combo valve and then a single line goes to the rear. You should be able to use a Skylark disc brake combo valve or buy a new one from Summit.

i have the stock proportioning valve from the wildcat, which had power front discs.

    Will this one work?

That set-up should work for your new brake system.

Just making sure this is correct:

Stock Proportioning valve on a 69 Wildcat, front discs stock (lucky me :Brow:)

That valve will work with front and rear disc conversion.

Sounds good, that makes installing the line locks that much easier.

    Thanks
