Any way to use the 1971 Ram Air Breather with an HEI on the 71GS? I set the breather on, but the fibreglass cup is resting high on the coil/retaining ring. Can the distributor be shortened? Anyone with experience with this? Thanks
Craig I believe you would have to cut your clearner to use and HEI. Since there is no performance gain in the HEI distrib. just go back to the smaller head unit distrib that came in 72 . If you do not want points go to Pertronix, Crane, or there is a neat one wire unit sold by www.LectricLimited.com
Just say no to HEI. I think they look like crap. Do not alter your air cleaner. MSD's are far better or even have stock distrib. made electronic. I have never seen or heard of HEI improving anything
I don't have one in front of me to look at now but will it fit if you don't use the retaining ring? I never put them back on when I replace the plug wires and have never had a plug wire come off the cap.
