does anyone know where i can find the divorced choke coil assy? i've looked on checker.com /autozone/ napa online and cant' find a part number for the assembly. I'm thinking on going electric but not sure how that works.

    Hey Nate,
I find mine in the junkyards. Usually on 350's. They're pretty plentiful around here yet.

Nate, I've got 2 divorced coils and units. Do you want them? $10 plus shipping. I also bought an electric conversion kit from www.carbsunlimited.com for $29. Works great. All it does it replace the stock plastic coil cap with an electric one. You need to run an ignition source wire to the cap, but that's it. It grounds itself.

    wow..

    Hey Adam,
actually just ordered one from them but its 59.50 bucks. i need the chebby style one. they didnt have one for the 70 carb on mine. I'm going to see if i can make it work. I have the choke coil in the intake manifold. I'm going to cover that with a plate and screw the new chebby style divorced choke on top of that plate. (hopefully Haven't seen it all together) I need to fix my heat crossover portion first (though now I don't really need it makes me wish I bought an intake manifold gasket that blocks that passage (though would still need to seal that location where mines messed up.)

    its alright

yea it sux.. it was 85 here in milwaukee today... and I dont have my convertable :af: I wanna CRUZE though the extra hp or so from the 4bbl from 2bbl will be quite nice :Brow:

i'm pretty handy with a torch and making metal what I want it to. too bad I don't have a mill to grind it smooth again.. oh well. guess a belt sander will have to work :bglasses:

all that it is, is a portion of the intake where hot air that comes off of the heads can cross into the other head. its basicly a passage between the two sides. I'm not sure what the head looks like with it though. anyways, within this portion there is a well accessable from the top of the engine. but sealed from the passage. the coil for the choke sticks in there and is covered. and it works kinda like your home thermostat (non electronic) where a lil coil moves and pulls or pushes the rod to move the linkage simmilar to what is on your choke.

isnt hot air when a small tube comes up from the exaust and warms up a coil? I'm not to sure on a hot air one.. think just a tube passes up into the choke coil and warms it up along with the electric element. though again I'm not sure about the hot air choke.

    I'll post pictures this weekend.

I was joking when I asked what the difference was:laugh:

Hot air choke is the one you just described with the small tube coming off the intake into the cylinder attached to the carb with a plastic cap. I totally wasn't thinking when I posted that first message...since all I have are hot air chokes lying around. When I did the crossover from 2bbl to 4bbl, I ran into the problem of having a hot air choke on my carb, since it was a later model 800cfm qjet. I just bought the convertor from carbs unlimited for the electric. I ended up pulling the linkage out of the divorced choke and leaving the flat cap on top to block that hole. My intake was from a 70 skylark, so it was exactly what you are looking for.
