I have a 71 Riviera.... which I can tell was originally red, by the trunk and behind the door panels.. it's now a nice battleship gray.... but... it doesn't do it for me.. and it needs the roof done over (think ill take the vinyl top off altogether), and it needs clearcoat on the hood.. either way i wanna paint the whole thing back in red.

    But which red??
I was thinking a nice metallic red
but i wanted to see some classics in metallic reds.. so maybe I can just ask someone exactly what red is that, I like it.. and paint mine the same? ..if i saw some pics?

here's my buick: (pics on bottom of that page)

i also need the chrome done over, but heard they rot because the gov't won't allow the use of lead in the primer? anyone know where i might be able to get a good chrome job then? or u think maybe i can find a place that still uses lead?

im not too crazy for it on a riviera. my 85 monte carlo was two tone, that was nice... but not for this car

however.. the red you have looks amazing.. but is it metallic? what is it?

besides.... the vinyl top makes it enough two-tone for me :)

Be careful with the red, though, it tends to oxidize worse than the other colors.

    hmmm......

maybe if i paint it maroon it'll fade to bright red
    lol
    =P

i dunno, the reason for red is...it was originally red..
but.... blue seems way too popular for classic cars
and white would look bad, show any crooked lines...

    i dunno

Don't worry about oxidation.Use a base clear paint system and fading won't be an issue.

How about House of Kolor's Kandy Brandywine - that's what I used to paint my wagon. Expensive but well worth it!

Check-out the avatar V8SKY. Very attractive car. That colour would look good on others style too.

    Fire RED METALIC

I decided to repaint my already red 70' skylark Fire Red Metalic.. Awsome color, nice and bright, and metalic adds a nice touch in sunlight...
