I'm still a virgin :ball: I'm waiting until I get married before I mash the petal to the floor on a 455  I can't wait that long.

No, really I hope to get behind the wheel of the Skyhawk this summer. If it's anything like riding in the passenger seat...... BRING IT ON!!!

16 years old, no licence yet, and a friend of mine gets into the passenger seat and tells me to get into the drivers seat of his 73 Riveria 455. After a few blocks he tells me to "get on it a little". Now I've never been one to be shy behind the wheel of any car...so I nailed it and the tranny shifted down and we were gone! Took me 17 years to finally get my own, however like all of my friends have BBB's so I've goten to drive them from time to time over the years.

I remember, it was my boattail on jackstands in the garage. With the door opened every other week I started it up to keep the seals, gaskets fresh and let the motor get up to operating temperature. Anyways, if I floored it too quick it would die because the carb. was never re-built in 32-years, only re-ajusted. So I would slowly rev the engine to full. And man did it sound MEAN! Even afterwards fuel exploded in the exhaust. She was a mean beast, i'll miss her. Too bad the next owner didn't take care of her. :(

Fastest car I rode in was an 1976 oldsmobile delta 88 w/ olds 350, thrush mufflers with 3" chrome tips out in back of the rear tires, man that is an awesome car to ride in, but probably nothing like a 455, can't wait to get my hands on one. :)

    fast ride

my 71 stage 1 4 spd, was one bad mutha. a friend of mine and his wife came to bowling green to see me one weekend, we got out the stage. we drove around about 15 minutes, i look in the mirror at my friend in the back seat and he looks at me, he knows what i'm about to do, so he grabs onto what he can find. i turn the corner in second gear onto a four lane, i rev her up a little and dump the clutch, and let the screaming begin, i look over and she is trying to hold onto the dash and yelling at me to slow the f&*# down. i back out of it when we get to the next light, she is still yelling at me not to ever do that again, i look at my friend in the back seat and he's sitting there laughing so hard he is crying. then the light turns green, opps i did it again, she was so mad when we got home that she wouldn't talk to either one of us for hours. which was cool, because i didn't care for her all that much anyway. buicks rule!! :TU: jerry

I didn't have my "FIRST TIME" until I actually owned the car.

I bought my car because I'm also into Turbo cars........having gone to Bowling Green many, many times I was always in awe of the Big Blocks and had to have one. I chased my car for 6 years before I got it.

This car had a fresh rebuild* on the drive train and was ready to be dialed in.....(*all the GOOD stuff ). So off to STAGE 1 AUTOMOTIVE it went so Rob Chilenski could SUPER-TUNE this beast.
Got it home and drove it local for three weeks just to get a feel for it !!!!!

Fourth week----- "This BAD BOYS ---- GOOD TO GO".
Friday night they had a big car show out in Bellmore, so I go out there to show off my car. After seeing all the MUSCLE CARS I'm totally WIRED FOR SPEED.......I say my goodbyes and slide off into the night heading for the Beach. One last stop for some CAM2 and we on our way......."TO THE STRAIGHT AWAY !!!!!!!!!!

I arrive at the starting line for the Measured 1/4 mile, pull off to the shoulder and shut off lights and car. I get out of the car and there is total silence.
It's just me and this beautilful shiney Blue Stage1. Got the gas, got the tune-up, got the cell phone.....LET'S DO IT!!!!!

I'm a street racer from way back and beat on my Grand National every time it leaves the garage, so this aint gonna' be no different.
I fire it up and BLIP it a few times to see if it's ready to ROCK.....WOW sounds GOOD!!!!!
I now pull just shy of the the burn-out rubber, throw on the line lock and do a burn-out through the rubber, put it in reverse, back up into the rubber and stop. Still no one around. Put it neutral BLIP it again, put in drive and stand on the brake. I now bring it up to 2400 rpms on my 3600 stall converter and now it's time to go!
I popped my foot off the brake and just as the car starts to move I snap the BUTTERFLIES to full Attention......the needle on the tach instantly plants itself on 5 GRAND as the tires grabbed that sticky rubber on the road. This car violently leaves from a dead stop and now 1st gear is over......BANG now we are in 2nd and this thing is goin' even faster......BANG now we're in 3rd and this thing is EATIN' UP ROAD. This thing pulls like a freight train all the way through the 1/4. This thing just don't want to quit, what awesome power!!!!!!

I liked that so much, I went back and did it again 8 more times. I beat that car good.......and it PURRRRED on the way home. Some cars really respond to a whippin' once and a while!
I drove home that night with NO FEAR of anything I've ever raced on the street.

Since then, I'm happy to report, quite a few high powered auto's have had the opportunity to experience the "VIOLENT" side of the "MIGHTY STAGE 1" !!!!!

    The first time

I 'm wondering why Blown455 has to be married to do a burnout. :Do No: I was 17 (early '70's), when I got to drive my sisters (I told you all before, everone in the family drove Buicks)'63 Nailhead Riv on my own. : :3gears: : It didn't take the second traffic light before I found the propell petel.I have NEVER in my young live heard such a noise, felt the G's :eek2: and wet my pants all at the same time. :pp to this day, whenever I see a '63 Riv, I need to find a mens room.

    first 455 ride

I had my 69 GS Calif. since 1985, Bought my green 72 Skylark in 86, Still have both. But they are 350 powered. After talking to Joe Cartland for many years I always told him if he ever wanted to sell his blue 72 that I would like the first shot at buying it. He finally sold it to me 99. It is a 455/400 bucket seat console with ac car. But third gear was long gone! After putting a new tranny in I drove it around for several days gentaly. Then on the way home from work one day I decided to let it loose. Man what a feeling. Now fast forward to 03 when I was at the old time drags in Tulsa with the car my buddie Bill was given the chance to drive it home from the track. So off he went. When we got to the house the smile on his face was ear to ear. He has two 455's in the garage looking for something to put one in! I sold a 72 Pontiac Ventura to a kid named Danny. After he had paid for thr Pontiac he aske about the Buick. So I took him for a little ride! His only reply was he had bought the wrong D@m Car!!!
    Got to love them Buicks!

Cause Rod won't get out of the driver seat. So, like he will never get married, he will never hand the keys over to me. I'm best off to buy my own. No, he said he is going to let me drive the Skyhawk this summer !!! We'll see

    Never ever....

Never driven a car with a 455, never ridden in a car with a 455. BUT, I want a 455 because my older brother says they are the best. I am 38 years old and my Big bro has never steered me wrong. (unless I deserved it.)
