TA has one for up to 1970 rivs but how much work would it be to use on a 71. I know there are stock replacement ones but I was looking for something more free flowing..
I believe the '70 still had the X-frame while the '71 definitely had a perimeter frame. I bought one for mine here: "HERE" They also sell with resonators (at a higher price). I did add walker 17749 (from memory) mufflers to add a bit more rumble. Not mandrel bent, but the price was decent....
Thanks for the reply. I saw those on ebay too and the prices are pretty good. I was hoping for mandrel bent and 2.5-3". something to put on when I get TA shorty headers. My stock system is in decent shape, I was just hoping for better flow and sound. I guess I could just replace the mufflers with some less restrictive ones and add the shorty headers for the time being.
Any good shop will be able to bend you up something pretty nice. I just had my 71 exhaust done. $600 out the door from the flanges back. Even tossed a cross over on.

Do some Internet searching for local shops and tell them what you want and get a couple of quotes. Many shops will build something custom for a decent price.
If I had it to do over, I would have a shop bend one up for me. The TA kit for the '67 thru '70 quite frankly fits like crap. uzzled: Even if they made one for your car I would not recommend it based on my experience.
I used a Waldron's set on my 46 Super; it bolted right up and fit beautifully, no mods needed. We were even able to use the original hangers and clamps. Price wise, these pipes weren't any more than what it would have cost me to get them bent up.
The link that was posted above from Ebay, the company is Classic Exhaust Inc from Ohio. http://classicexhaustinc.com/ I bought a system from them for my '71 Electra. While its not mandrel bent, there are ZERO kinks in the pipes. Everything was made in the USA and everything fit well. Wish I would have done it sooner. Message him via Ebay and ask him for a quote: be sure to include vehicle, diameter, with or without hardware, aluminized or stainless, with resonators or not etc.
Has anyone used this kit on a boat tail riv? http://www.opgi.com/riviera/1971/exhaust/exhaust-systems-kits/CH26505/ or this one http://www.opgi.com/riviera/1971/exhaust/exhaust-systems-kits/FM15936/ Mandrel-bent pipes keep the exhaust gasses moving for greater power. These are precision-bent, slip-fit pipes and they come with an H-pipe crossover, but no clamps. You have to use offset inlet/outlet mufflers for the pipes to fit properly. We recommend professional installation as welding and cutting is required.
I built my own out of 3" pipe. Starts with 3.5" cutouts that bolred to the headers and went to 3" from there. I'm gonna build a single 4" system once i do my turbo so if you want a pre-made 3" system let me know.
Im the only shop around within 700 sq miles that has a mandrel bender... you get an exhaust, ship it to me and I will duplicate it up to 2 1/2" stainless or 3" mild steel or aluminized. Get Bent Exhaust Clackamas, OR.
I don't know how fare away from Cleavland Ohio you are. P.D.K performance did my exhaust on my 73 riv. it sounds great!
I saw those but I couldnt find anyone on here that has actually used the assemble your self flowmaster ones. Anyone have feedback on them?
I've used on of the fit yourself flowmaster kits and had pretty good results. I used it for my 66 Wildcat so i had to add a couple feet additional pipe to the kit because the car is rather long but if you are patient the kit works great. What they give you is several sections with generic bends and really generous straight runs after the bend. you cut and fit different sections to get the profile you need and then I welded the sections together but you could use clamps if you do not have access to a welder. i did it on my back with the car on jack stands, doing it with the car on a lift would have made it a lot easier I would guess you could do it easily in a weekend. you just need to sneak up on the fit as you make the sections , the hardest was the bend up and over the rear axle. The only trick is remembering that it is far easier to cut a bit more off than to put it back on on........ just take your time and work slowly.
