im deciding wether or not if i should bother taking the steering box out of my gs parts car and place it on the car that im turning into a gransport using all of the tags and driveline. does the gs have a faster steering ratio than a non gs?
Forever Steering - I like that. Only too true. So ...... Is there something that can be done to correct this - different steering box or some other fix that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and can be returned to original ?
You can change out the steering box from a later model car....early-mid 70's Trans-Am, 80's Monte Carlo SS's, GN's and even some Jeep Grand Cherokee have fast-ratio steering boxes. You may need an adapter for metric hose fittings, or different spline count/ or size to use some boxes. Also a stock F-body box (TA) won't turn as sharply so it'll increase your turning-circle diameter some. Best to search the various A-body boards for specifics: http://www.chevelles.com/forums/ www.performanceyears.com www.realoldspower.com :TU:
