    Hello ALL ,

I just purchased a set of Buick Dog Dish's off of EBAY.. I haven't recieved yet but the description said inside diameter of 10 1/8"..
This setup will be going on 72 skylark with stock height suspension. I know the 5x4.75" is the bolt pattern but I do have an adapter to make a 5X5" wheel work also so that would be an option..

Any suggestions on what type of wheels I need to buy to make these caps work?

    thanks,, Dan C.

A fellow member ( Brent ) did something similar with a 17" wheel and I really like the way it looked so I pulled the trigger on some dog dish caps and hope that I can replicate the look..

so if i get a fullsize wheel it will work? I have the spacer to take it to a 5 x5 pattern and I like the way these caps look. So hopefully I can make this work.
I'm too far on the custom side to worry about skylark correct caps at this point...:blast:

Wouldnt it just be easier and cheaper in the long run to just get the right caps?

Your going to need new 15" wheels, tires (Im assuming your tires are 14's?) , lug nuts and wheel adapters to make these work. Sounds like alot of expense. The correct dog dish caps arent that elusive that you need to make these work.

    But, to each his own

    hi Jason,

I didn't give a good description of my setup.. I did a front and rear conversion to Stainless Steel disc setup.. So i need to run 15" wheels to clear the caliper in the rear.

So i figured now would be a good time to do the 15teens, heck i may even jump up to a 17" wheel if I can find one to work with the caps I bought..

Im not a big fan of wheel adapters. They are marginal at best on a stock vehicle. You start putting horsepower through them, add performance cornering and its a recipe for catastrophic failure.

Dont even think about them getting through an NHRA tech inspection

i wonder if i could get a 15" reproduction steelie wheel in the 4.75 bolt pattern..? that way i wouldn't have to run the spacers.. Dan C

Did you ever find a use for these caps? If not I may want to buy them...

hi John, i didn't figure out a setup for these yet. They are so nice that I want to use them even though not correct for a GS. If something changes I'll let you know..

Dan, I have some original GM 15x7 steelies in the 5x4.75" bolt pattern that will take the dog dish caps. If interested, PM me, thanks.

Thanks for the offer on the wheels but I decided to take a ride to Summit Racing and found a nice set of Wheel Vintiques Series 62 wheels. Say 17x9 5.25 bs for the rear and 17x8 4.25 bs for the front. The Buick caps I have will fit right on and it should give a nice look with the larger wheel.. I of coarse will purchase in black and not the orange color below.., shown for reference only..

Does anyone have experience with Wheel Vintiques wheels, positive or negative?

I did a little Internet Googling and have seen some bashing going on about how the wheels can be hard to balance and that the wheels are lug centric instead of hub centric.. This is all new to me regarding aftermarket wheels..

So before I break out the cash I was hoping to get some feedback on Wheel Vintiques??

Most balancing problems can be attributed to inexperienced operators, balancer calibration issues and use of incorrect or damaged adapters. Or a combination of all three.

I can tell you how many times someone has used the balancer cones as a pipe expander:Dou:

Alot of the new digital/ laser balancers are diagnostic. Try and find a place that has a Snap On BFH 800 or 1000 or the equivalent Hunter "Road Force" GSP9700 balancer

I wouldnt be too concerned with lug centric wheels. Cragar S/S's are lug centric and there's a million of them around

Thanks for the reply, I kinda figured that if the wheels were such an issue then everyone would have been bashing them but I have found a lot of happy folks commenting on Google as well...
