Help! I have a 69 skylark with only one interior light located right smack in the centre of the headliner. It is the standard dome light with bezel and lens and of coarse the bulb is burnt out.My question.....what is the best way to remove the lens without breaking it? The unit itself has never been off since the car was built and is quite firmly in place.

Good chance it will break no matter what you do. I have had these disintergrate in my hand like they were made out of sugar. Find out if replacements are available before you take it out!

Just did this little job on 56 last night.
After having broken numerous plastic lens in the past,
I know it can happen no matter what.
Being cold is the worst thing for these so I took my trusty
trouble light and hung it by the dome light for about a half hour first.
It really made the lens more pliable and was able to get it out easy.
(This time!) Also on mine the bezel that holds it is a friction fit so I could have
taken the whole thing off as a unit and removed the lens from the inside without
having to bend it. Good luck. A spare new one shouldn't cost that much either and
    will look brighter anyway.

    thanx

    The trouble light trick worked!
i'm amazed at how flexable the lens was when heated :beer

    Glad to hear it!
Like I said, us old guys know a few tricks, but we had learn 'em all the hard way.
