I check my credit report at all three credit bureau's every year. I also locked them so nobody can apply for a credit cart or a loan without me unlocking them. Also, never save passwords or credit card numbers when purchasing on line.
Ive found out that Orbitz, Hertz,and all the other big name "agencies" buy out ALL the rooms, cars, accommodations, flights etc. and then resell to a captive audience. Many times Ive called to rent a car off the street and told they didnt any available. Called one of the sheenie outfits and immediately had a car reserved. ALWAYS use a charge card. NEVER a debit. Charge cards can be disputed and usually zero charges that you didnt make deals on.
And people wonder why I refuse to adopt much of today's technology..... When I updated my old style flip phone to a newer android style one, the salesperson was very helpful and respected my wishes. I believe they were part of Ma Bell's conglomerate and not a franchisee. I NEVER give away my Social Insurance Number to strangers, and only begrudgingly provide my Driver's License number after bluntly asking why they require it. Online shopping? Nope, that's what brick and mortar stores are for.
I just paid $10.50 to Equifax to get credit report to try to find out what bank the Walmart charges were on and complete CC number since Walmart could only give me last 4 digits. Equifax gives me all but the last 4! Totally useless....
I think SOME hotel employees. are scammers. 2 years ago. Stayed in a hotel in Battonrouge LA. Reservations were made and credit card paid. They said there was a problem with the reservation. They asked for a credit card at front desk. Thought nothing of it. After the trip the bill came with over $3000. In extra charges from 2 hotels in the Battonrouge area we never stayed at. Same here, Credit card company got the refund. I bet it happens all the time.
