Hello all, I had my Regal out the other day after it being laid up for a long time. I had adjusted the driver's side door so that I don't have to slam it as much to get it closed but when I am driving and I hit the slightest of bumps the door rattles loudly. My buddy seems to think that I need to change the hinges but I forgot to ask him if I actually need new hinges or a pin and bushing kit only. What do you guys think ? Also my horn stopped working. Is there a fuse for this ? I could not find one on the fuse block. Thanks in advance for the input. Mario.
...rattling door ... JOIN-THE-CLUB. :TU: Thank God the Stage-1 motor drowns-it-out. HELP!!! o No: :gp:
A rattle generally wouldnt be caused by a worn hinge. Take the panel off and look in the bottom of the door for any foreign objects- loose nut or bolt, loose bracket, etc. Drive the car with the panel off and see if you can pin point ito No: Horns are on a fuse. Always check fuses with a test light or a DVOM set on continuity. Sometimes its hard to determine if a fuse is good or bad by eye. Ive seen fuses that look Ok but are N/G. Are the horns getting power when you press the horn button? Is the ground good? Are the horns capable of working if supplied with 12 volts and a ground? Do yourself a favor and get a factory service manual.
Sorry Jason, what I mean't to say is that the door itself is actually shaking when I hit a bump. And thanks for the fuse advice. I do have the shop manual but I could not find a fuse for the horn and on the fuse block there was nothing for the horn either. I will test all the fuses and then check the grounds. It is probably on an instrument panel fuse. Thanks, Mario.
Sounds like you need to adjust your door pin in a bit towards the inside of the car to take away the rattle.
